      More of a response to the brutality being visited upon Minneapolis than a genuine suggestion, but I appreciate the framing. You can’t claim Ventura doesn’t care about his state.

      47% of Minnesota voters chose Trump in their last election. In pre-election polling, the province with the highest support for Trump had 29% say they would vote for him. I.e., despite being a blue state, they are far more supportive of Trump than any province and adding them would just be adding a bunch of cult members and shifting us more towards their politics.

      It’s also just an idea that will obviously never happen and only helps to legitimize their own threats to our sovereignty.

      Minnesota is an open carry and conceal state. They’d have to give up their 2nd amendment rights. I have a really hard time believing they’d give that up.

      Well, thing is about Canada is we have a government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people.

      Americans would not be compatible with that.

      As a quote to troll Trump, great. But this would probably not work out very well at all.

      Even when the Canada and US relationship was at its best, there is no way that taking Minnesota into Canada would not create an extaordinarily hostile response from the US.

      No thank you, we’d like to preserve what little of our distinct culture we have. I’d be more than happy to support them as their own sovereign nation, if they ever choose to secede or form their own nation with other like-minded states and we can be friendly neighbours, but that’s it.

      I say this as a second generation Canadian and with the utmost respect to our American neighbours, we have a right to enjoy our own country’s unique heritage and identity without it being further diluted.

      I dont want any american states being added, even blue ones.

      Minnesota has a population of nearly 6 million. Itd immediately become the 3rd most populous province and skew our demographics way too much. I dont want american culture war issues or maga to have even more of a foothold here.
