Costly for the taxpayer but extremely profitable for the people allocating the funding. Human trafficking to enrich themselves is a story as old as time

And Aontu get called racist for having a logical, common sense policy of speeding up deportations.

The governments efforts to budget something means they’ll cut off anything that’s actually cheaper and send more money to their landlord pals

Immigration officers will need to board more flight and deny people without documents permission to disembark. Daily operations at the boarder to turn back people without permission to enter the state. It will cost a lot less in the long run I should think.

  5. The total cost per year of this shitshow when you include all the State benefits is at least 5 to 6 Billion euros.

That’s the kind of money that builds metros and motorways.

  6. Who would have guessed hotels and landlords receiving a blank check would immediately jack up the costs to the tax payer. All cash that could build social housing to benefit the population long term but I assume this coalition doesn’t plan beyond kleptocratic short term

  7. It is sad and markedly funny at the same time, to see so many usual suspects commenting on how this is less to do with the open corruption of Banty and the FFG pals making money hand over fist, and more to do with lack of enforcement. No wonder they will never fix this cause the gravy train is making millions for the corrupt with rather convenient dog whistles doing the job perfectly to distract from the elephant in the room.

  8. Has anyone ever totted up the totals, as in not just the housing but the medical cards and medical costs, dentistry, food, transport, staffing, social welfare and all the various benefits etc etc, not to mention the pressure it’s putting on health services and housing and so on, massive increases in the costs of hotels. A complete scam paid for by you and I.

  9. Somewhere along the line, the Irish state suddenly thought it doesn’t have a special duty to protect and nurture the Irish nation.

    This is the result.
