  1. A „photo“ would imply to get a picture of the animal from, at least, a respectful distance. According to the article, she tried to get a selfie, which requires getting right next to this wild animal.

  2. Wow, that’s unprecedented. I watched a documentary about them before and snow leopards have never attacked humans. At least not documented.

  3. No doubt she has cousins taking selfies with elk in Estes and bison in Yellowstone

  4. >According to various snow leopard conservation organisations, there have been no verified instances of a snow leopard attacking a human.

Uhh… this can’t be the first time something like this happens right?

  5. Natural selection. Sucks that probably the leopard was killed thanks to human stupidity.

  6. Getting attacked by one of the rarest and most timid big cats in the world is quite an “achievement”.

I live in BC Canada and I have to say Asians are the most least respectful people when it comes to our wildlife. I have seen firsthand multiple times many cars and many people getting out and baiting our wildlife in order to get a damn picture. Sorry but FAFO

This sounds like she died but the article says she’s in stable condition.

This is the only time victim blaming is okay, cos these animals are very solitary and she probably did something stupid like, idk, take a fucking selfie with it. If you see a wild animal, DO NOT GO NEAR IT. OF ANY TYPE. While human beings can be perpetrators in attacks, it’s because they willingly do it most of the time, and are socialised not to. But wild or even tamed animals are not the same as humans and therefore cannot be responsible the same way a human perp can. This is probably 99.99% her fault.

So easy to avoid being attacked by an animal that rare. What are the chances of this ?

Banff has lots of issues with tourists trying to take selfies with wildlife, including Grizzlies. People really are that fucking stupid.
