      The special elections bring the state House to a 67-67 tie, meaning the parties will operate under their previously agreed-upon power-sharing agreement. That includes keeping Rep. Lisa Demuth (R) as House Speaker while most House committees will be co-chaired by both parties.

      Change doesn’t start at the midterms, it starts at every state, county, sheriff, mayor, city council, and education board election that happens between *now* and the midterms.

      I’m shocked such a blue state allows what appears to be a gerrymander in favor of Republicans.

      edit: Wow, there a lot more Republicans in Minnesota than I realized.

      49.48% R vs 49.95% D in the state House’s popular vote in 2024, and 46.68% Trump vs 50.92% Harris.

      And then [Republicans assassinate Democratic politicians](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_shootings_of_Minnesota_legislators) there and Trump sends ICE to crush them, too.

      I’m a born and raised Portlander, work in Hillsboro (hit hard by those melted brain fuckers) and I just have to say the Minneapolis response to the occupation has been incredible and really renewed my urgency and drive to protest. I honestly started to become apathetic and hopelessly depressed but you guys .. you guys are great. Thank you.

      The GOP in Minnesota is pretty much dead now. The murders of Good and Pretti by Trump’s goons and the occupation of our city has really become an Us vs. Them thing here and the GOP is them. That’s why Madel is trying to come off as an Independent now instead a Republican despite offering counsel to the ICE Agent who killed Good.
