Absolutely correct. I’d like them to make an exception for Canadian made goods, but I’ll be okay if they don’t.

This feels like a no-brainer. America holds Europe in open contempt. Why in the hell would we rely on them and send them money?!

  3. So next EU order of F35 will happen next February or next March ? Everyone talks about European sovereignty those days but pretty much no one wants to build it

  4. The risk would be this discourages European firms from competing. It would be better to preference European unless there is a substantially better global alternative.

And having European defence firms that can compete on a global scale helps pay for it through sales to trusted allies.

EU should only buy ~~European~~ French components for defense, France space minister says

    Fixed the headline

  7. Yes, every country should now be aware of what happens when a big fat orange nut bag takes control of the country that supplies u with weaponry

By EU they actually mean to buy French.

The US has an will always be the Gun store of Europe. Europeans are not willing to do what would be required to develop a MIC to compete with China or the US. It would require massive increases in European spending coinciding with either heavy tax increases or slashing social services. The F-35 for example took over a decade and over a Trillion dollars. You can start now to develop a competitor and spend a trillion dollars or just buy F-35s.

Disagree. EU should not be blind to superior designs elsewhere, especially if they are allied or can be done in a joint R&D effort (which F35 was). But everything should be able to be built in the EU under an unlimited license agreement. This includes software, which is becoming increasingly important.

  10. It makes sense. It will help the economy, but most-important, we will not rely on distant production and shortages at the crucial times.

US-parts should be out of the picture. Permanently.

Why not make the whole world one country and not by waging wars?? Is that so difficult ???? ;(

    We are ONE!

Trouble is when Feance urges buying European components for defense, what it always means is Europe should only by French components.

  13. So many people here who didn’t read the article and just rush to propagate stereotypes about France wanting to sell French products…
