Januar, dem Tag, an dem die Wahlen zum Repräsentantenhaus bekannt gegeben wurden, verschickte Kawasaki City eine Nachricht in den sozialen Medien, um darauf aufmerksam zu machen, dass Hassreden selbst im Wahlkampf nicht toleriert werden. Die Verordnung der Stadt zur Nichtdiskriminierung und Achtung der Menschenrechte definiert Hassrede an öffentlichen Orten als Verbrechen und macht sie auch bei Wahlen verboten und strafbar.

This is really positive news. I’m hoping that other city governments in Japan will make similar statements. Some places need it more than others… (look at you Saitama, Hyogo and Kyoto…)
