  1. Honestly this should have been done since the first round of tariffs but good for them. Microsoft in particular needs to suffer some consequences.

  2. I’ve worked for technology companies a long time now and tbh video conferencing is very common and totally unnecessary. It wasn’t that long ago it was a novelty. If France goes back to voice call I don’t think it will make any difference.

  3. I have to use zoom every day for my job and it’s just not very good. I don’t need to see any of the dummies I have to talk to, and the program is a crazy resource hog especially when people use dumb backgrounds or video effects

  4. Zoom is a horrible app… no one should be using it… and Microsoft is just a US lapdog… at least Google can be counted on to be greedy enough that it would do what is best for them… at least they are predictable!! Europe should not be using US tech!!

  5. Which war? France renewed a Palantir contract in december and has plenty of contracts with Microsoft for many government services, including some in education which was signed last year. Zoom is irrelevant.

  6. Im happy to be here to remind all historians to accurately note that unchecked and unresolved racism led to the economic instability/collapse of a global super power AND the resurgence of the Nazi’s.

  7. So we’re going to lose a lot more than the soft power we had around the world, we’re also going to lose marketshare.

Looks like Ole cheeto digits overplayed his hand. No surprises there.

Remember when it was a thing to insinuate that the French were weak and „scared“ compared to the US?? Freedom Fries??

Had to be intentional so that Americans would never take time to learn about French History. Hope we can all start learning more about French History and how they handle things though.

When big corps start to lose money because of this administration then we’ll see some behind the scenes pressure.

  10. That will be confusing when dealing with people outside France given that Microsoft has a product called Visio.

  12. The only thing the ruling class seems to respond to is lower stock prices and bank accounts, so keep going.

France has its own growing tech sector and is highly self-dependent on energy, so makes sense. France is really one of the few EU countries that seems to have foresight. I am not familiar with the state of their grid system, but hopefully it’s better than the US.

  14. Microslop siding with Trump and they are losing business? Hah. Windows 11 is garbage.

Good. These US corporations need to feel the consequences of sitting on the sidelines hoping they can wait out all the damage Trump is doing. I hope all of their bottom lines get fucked after the EU moves off of US based businesses. Get fucked capitalist pigs.

I’ll be impressed if countries start doing Microsoft and go the Linux route.
