The „don’t tread on me“ crowd are staunch defenders of the first and second amendments…when it suits them. 

Idk, I think this may be what pushes my Qanon dad out of maga. He eats that shit for breakfast but he loves his guns most of all and is fierce about 2A. I know there’s a twilight zone level dismissal of 2A by talking heads on social media but actual rednecks may care to differ.

Aren’t republicans supposed to staunchly defend the 2nd amendment? When did they become such cowards?

You can’t understand Republicans unless you understand that first and foremost, they want different laws to apply to them than plain old Americans.

But it’s their love of convenient magical thinking and logical fallacies that really matters.

Dude the whole crack down on gun rights started because Ronald Reagan was scared black people owning and expressing their gun rights was a „danger to society“ and it wasn’t until white people realized that would eventually infringe on their rights that they got upset. 

It’s also a pretty ridiculous for DHS to fail to properly handle people with guns when each year Game Wardens across the country go alone into woods to catch poachers and write tickets for illegal hunting, confronts people who are going to be legally armed and every body walks out of the woods alive.

It’s simple really.

Conservatives or MAGA have been propagandized to hate liberals and the left so much they will put their own principles aside.

They are entrenched and can’t lose an inch of ground to the left.

If Donald Trump came out in support of abortion tonight, by morning over half of MAGA would support it as well. This is because they have no ironclad beliefs…it’s a cult of supporting and regurgitating whatever deer leader says as gospel.

Just a complete spit in the face and erasure of Philando Castile. A brown gun owner who did everything right and was still executed by cop in his car with his wife and daughter in the backseat as cops refused to allow him to be treated. All the way back in 2016.

To conservatives, as an opposer to ICE, Pretti was part of the out-group. He was bound by the second amendment – that is to say, the in-group were totally fine to murder him. But he was not _protected_ by the second amendment – that is to say, he had no right to defend himself from an in-group member.

Just apply Wilhoit’s law to anything conservatives do or say, and everything starts making way more sense.

It’s completely unsurprising. Conservatives want free unlimited guns everywhere, until someone starts shooting back.

They seem to think they’re the only ones that like guns en masse. When they actually see armed leftists, or the Panthers, they all of a sudden start talking about „sensible gun safety“ and „common sense“.
