  1. The US has reneged on their protection agreement that was signed when Ukraine agreed to surrender their nuclear missiles. So why should Ukraine believe any new deal from the US? Trump is so obviously a Putin stooge and only has Putin’s wants in mind.

No one in their right mind would agree to letting an invader keep that which they stole.

The Trump administration has indicated to Ukraine that US security guarantees are contingent on Kyiv first agreeing a peace deal that would likely involve ceding the Donbas region to Russia, according to eight people familiar with talks.

Washington has also suggested it would promise Ukraine more weaponry to bolster its peacetime army if it agreed to withdraw its forces from the parts of the eastern region it controls.

  3. How unexpected, as if it is not obvious that Ukraine is going to lose land as a result of this war.

The US is no more trustworthy than Russia under this administration or any future Republican administration for that matter. The damage Trump and his goons have done is likely irreparable at this point. Even if he was gone tomorrow, and the entire pack of loons was sent off to the nuthouse, the damage is done. I don’t think it’s hyperbole to suggest that we’re witnessing the end of empire in real time now.

Europe needs to seriously get its shit together, now.

The US should not be negotiating for a European state, in Europe.

I would not trust the US for ANY guarantee unless it included a lump sum payment to Donald Trump’s bank account. Otherwise he will just shrug his shoulders when Russia attacks.

I don’t know why this is still being sought and discussed.

Ukraine won’t and cannot cede any land.

This means ceding their impossibly to breach no-mans-land defense; which is clearly now impossible for Russia to breach.

This land is heavily defended and wrapped up in trenches, mines, barbed wires, tank spikes – and most importantly it is continually shielded by massive amounts of home produced FPV drones that is killing approx 30,000 Russian soldiers per month. The drone tech and also piloting is continually improving.

Why would Ukraine cede this territory and their defensive structure / situation – which Russia cannot breach.

It is fucking stupid for this to still be on the agenda.

We are now simply in a war of attrition which is basically:

    1) Will Russia capitulate first as its soldiers continue dying in huge numbers entering the no-mans-land, and their infrastructure takes a beating each night, and its economy crumbled?

    Or;

    2) Will Ukraine capitulate first as its cities are continually bombed in the night?

    – Clearly Russia capitulates first as Ukraine cannot capitulate. They are defending. They have nothing else to do other than defend, it has no choice other than defend. Russia on the other hand can eventually stop.

Not sure however how this situation plays out if the Russian soldiers stop pushing, but the the nightly bombs keep coming indefinitely. That’s a pretty dark scenario. Ukraine may need to go on offensives then.

Even if the U.S. we re to drop this overtly pro-Russia peace approach, I wouldn’t trust them…
