    1. Showing their true colours, Tories resort to ableist attacks on those defecting to Reform.

I guess they can’t attack her morality given how they embraced the identity of „the nasty party“.

      Bollox!

Locally, a former Conservative leader defected to an opposition party. The then local Conservative leader that replaced them issued a statement that cast the defecting ex-Conservative leader as someone who was mentally ill. It’s the Conservatives modus operandi – slinging very nasty accusations at opponents and defectors.

I cannot abide by Suella Braverman or Reform U.K.’s extreme politics. I also cannot abide by nasty tropes that play on prejudice about mental illness either!

Even if it was sent in error, it still means they were thinking that it would be ok to say publicly

That’s strange, I feel like the Tory’s wouldn’t believe in mental health issues

Just when you think with Farage enthusiastically hoovering up all the dregs the Tories might have a chance of becoming vaugely centre right, up Kemi pops and reminds you that no, they really are the nasty party and always will be.

Baverman is utterly vile. There’s enough to condemn her over without resorting to cheap jabs about her mental health.

Of all the talentless people that somehow wormed their way into senior ministerial roles in Johnson’s government Braverman was the worst ……. or maybe Williamson was……. or Truss ….. no! it was definitely Raab…..or Braverman

Anyway, I digress, my point is why would Reform want anything to do with them? Surely they’re toxic. Electoral kryptonite.

    7. Guess all it takes for Right-wingers to pretend to care about mental health is when they want to make clear that one of the worst MP’s in parliament is actually mentally well.

We thankfully have a big barrel here in the UK cause there’s plenty of folks swimming at the bottom of it.

    9. It was a pretty catty statement even without that bit! Not that I wouldn’t be much less polite if I had to make a statement about her.

    10. >A Reform source told the Guardian that the Tory statement was “not true” and “a gross affront to millions of people in this country”. The source said: “Whether you like Suella or not, she is a Cambridge-educated barrister who has served in a series of extraordinary senior positions in this country.
“To just throw around a wild claim of this nature – it goes without saying that she has never been diagnosed with a mental health condition…“

Reform not doing much better in their criticism by suggesting educated people with good jobs can’t have mental health issues. Good to know they also know her full medical history somehow.

    11. She looked pretry unconvincing when confronted about it on camera.

Which suggests to me that she did face some mental health struggles, did make the party aware, and they used it against her later.

Suella Braverman may be a horrible person and be incompetent – with ambition greater than any ability.

But it’s nothing to do with mental health.

    13. Equally bad was Reform’s response, which was (paraphrasing) „she’s had a very successful career, so obviously she’s never had a mental illness“.

The nasty party getting upset when one of their members defects to the vile party.
