  1. And he has no desire to use his billions to help the country that made him who he is. Fuck him. Just like every other billionaire building a bunker in New Zealand.

  2. Great for people who are super rich and can get/buy a citizenship for any country on the planet. Most of us, unfortunately, will be stuck where we are. And oh, some may be deported to some god forsaken place.

  3. „Everybody’s at each other’s throats“

No James, it’s the literally fascist Nazi Republicans at the throats of its civilians. A one-sided attack.

Some of us aren’t rich enough to go to the bottom of the sea for fun or escape the fascist.

Dont ever come back James. You could have used your voice but you ran.

Lots of Canadians have left/ are leaving Hollywood – Cameron, Ryan Gosling, Jim Carrey, Pam Anderson, Howie Mandel, Tom Green

I’m Franco American. Have a French passport. I will stay in America and fight for what I believe is right, because that’s true patriotism. What a coward.

  7. „James Cameron has said that New Zealand’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic is the reason behind his decision to relocate there from the US.

[Speaking to Stuff](https://www.stuff.co.nz/culture/360928366/director-james-cameron-why-he-moved-new-zealand), Cameron – who shot much of the most recent Avatar feature in the southern hemisphere – described being the US under Donald Trump as “like watching a car crash over and over” and said his New Zealand citizenship was “imminent”.

    And he’s 1000% correct.

  8. Good for Jim Cameron. I’m sure we all wish we were as talented and successful as him. New Zealand is a beautiful country and I’m sure he’ll be happy there.

I’m not sure I care about some rich Canadian dude being able to afford escaping from a place that isn’t technically his original home anyway.

Am I missing something? We’re all at each other’s throats, or a select group of bigots are at our throats? Which is it?

I don’t get how people think its safe anymore. If you have a window to escape, do it now or be prepared for violence because never have oppressors submitted to talking nicely.

Seriously, if I had a family, kids, etc. I’d be hightailing it before it came to my area.

Obviously, it’s preferable to stay and fight but you’re fighting Israel, billionaires and millennia of beliefs surrounding god-given superiority.

  11. Can’t blame him at all. If anyone has the means, I suggest they do the same. America is done.

  12. Just remember when they say “trickle down” it means making all your money in the US and leaving

  13. A good thing for New Zelanders is that the current administration might just forget about them existing since they tend to be omitted from World Maps.

I’m a US citizen, and I loved where I’m from, but I don’t even recognise whats left of it. I left the US 9 years ago for Australia, and if I even get a sniff of impropriety at the midterms, I’ll be giving up my US citizenship.

  15. My parents taught me Ancient Greek and Latin, I learned the history of the world and the different frameworks of thinking throughout western history. Modern American Education is focusing too much on the technical, and it doesn’t cultivate practical wisdom, nor a healthy habit of contemplating it. We lack a shared secular moral belief system, and we don’t attempt to make one. This is the result.

Remember at the start of Russias war against Ukraine and Russia experienced a serious brain drain? Yeah…

    He’s right 👍

Trump has sowed division in the US.

He’s unapologetically backed the far right MAGA crowd and fed into their core beliefs (xenophobia, misogyny, aggression) because it aligns with his own thinking.

Rather than calm down the division and lead for all Americans, he (and his Cabinet) continues to amplify it.

_Everything_ is always about the Lunatic Left and any decent conversation or debate is out the window.

  18. Thanks dick-face, you couldn’t use your clout, money and influence to help correct the problems, you’d just rather run away and leave us here to deal with it. I won’t forget that you ran when you could have helped.

„Everyone’s at each other’s throats“ makes it sound like the violence is going both directions.

No, one side is at the other’s throats, and the other side is finally starting to retaliate

One side wants universal healthcare, free higher education, jobs that provide a living wage, and rent that doesn’t cost an absurd amount of your income, and infrastructure that isn’t crumbling across the country

The other side just wants the other to suffer and even die for no discernible reason

  21. Important context for people that only read the headline before giving their $.02: James Cameron is a Canadian, soon to be New Zealand citizen.
