The next decade is going to involve a MASSIVE transition of the automobile market.

I recommend everyone look up the trajectory of BEV/PHEV vehicles from 10 years ago to today as a percentage of new vehicles sold market share.

Then look up how long a vehicle stays on the road (around 15 years).

This is similar in other areas as well. The reality is that China is progressing very very quickly. The Five Year Plans they do allows them to really do substantive analytical policy. That isn’t to say China doesn’t have a lot of problems.

The 15th Five Year Plan just started this 2026 and it talks about Green Energy/Green Technology and China moving from a fast-follower strategy to that of a leader in innovation and Research & Development.

I could write more on this in detail if anyone is interested but the short of it is that China is going to be a leading player in a host of technologies of the future and it doesn’t do Canada any favors to not involve ourselves in those developments/implementations.
