There is no honor or empathy in professional sports.

Any professional sports is basically subset of advertisement and marketing industry. All professional athletes are living promotional banners for the companies that are their actual employers, via sponsorship deals. And all sports organisation function as marketing managers working on distribution of these banners, again for their employers, same way, via sponsorship.

And when somebody in organisation, either the promotional banners themselves or the managers, does something that endangers the profits of the advertisers, its entirely logical that they are reprimanded.
