Ich ziehe nach Deutschland und habe ein Angebot für eine Unterkunft dieser Art erhalten. Offenbar habe ich erfahren, dass Dachzimmer heißer sind als normale Zimmer, und ich miete es für die Sommermonate. Obwohl es auch eine kleine Klimaanlage gibt, frage ich mich, ob ich das Angebot in Betracht ziehen sollte. Preis, Größe, Lage etc. sind für mich kein Thema.
Ist es also eine gute Idee, hier im Sommer einzuziehen?

Kind of common, that room in the picture looks like a room probably many people grew up in.
They are common and they are very uncomfortable using summer, if they are facing south
They are often cheaper. I live in one too. Summer heat is a real problem and this doesnt look like a real AC unit.
Other then that i like it here in my little tower. I have those windows over my bed and sleep directly under the stars basically.
Well price not an issue but you should consider if it is “worth it” this price, so if you can find much better options for same price. While such rooms are pretty common, there are some things to consider:
In summer it would be very hot, in Germany AC is rarity so it’s good there is one.
You really want to know people you live with since it can be either great experience or ruin everything. Considering how we people in Germany can be noisy and non-tolerant…

Not unusual, i lived in such an apartment for a few years. But yeah in my experience in the summer it is warmer than in the rest of the building and in the winter it is colder. This ofc depends on the isolation of the building etc. Also check if there are the same kind of roof windows as shown in the picture in your sleeping room and if these have proper blends. Mine had nothing at all, so i had to build something myself to not wake up when dawn started (which is pretty early in the summer) and to keep the heat out. But this ofc also depends on you, i know some people that have zero problems with continue sleeping while the sun shines in their face.
Attic rooms are not uncommon at all.
If you really need the AC, that depends on a lot of factors. Do the windows have proper blackout shutters on the outside? Then that will already prevent a lot of heat if you keep them close during the day and ventilate at night.
So common that i really thought this was the place of my coworker that i see every day in the background. I only know that it’s not his place because of the different Windows and because the camera of your computer doesn’t look to the door. Otherwise i couldn’t tell.
It depends how properly renovated it is. If they insulate it to good standard (with sarking for instance) and they couple it to a heatpump with A/C, it is no problem. My house has such attic with the office space, and we didn’t have the money yet to insulate it. It is super warm in summer, but since we have velux on every side and the top, it creates a nice airflow that helps to feel good. Sleeping would be hard though.
Keep in mind that if you’re looking for something in summer, it’s only January. Hardly any options for summer will even be posted.
Dachgeschoss (Attic) is cold in Winter and hot in summer. That is why I try not to rent one.
They are usually as comfy as any other rooms in the house.
If it comes with an AC, its good. But if the tube in the picture is from the AC, that’s the worst kind. They are inefficient and loud, and that contradicts the goal of good sleep in summer.

They are very common and depending on building year a pain in the ass.
My husband and I consider those A hard no while looking for housing.
BUT: for a limited amount of time with a functioning AC, wed go for it as long as the other specks are matching our needs. Plus f.e. last summer where we live (nothern germany) we hardly had temps above 25 and no long term heat waves.
So, depending on where located, such apartements could be a great deal.
Germany isn’t big for ACs, so if you are used to ACs cooling down your room to a cool 20 degrees Celsius when it’s 40 outside – whatever AC they have in there, it’s not the same.
Having said that, those types of rooms aren’t uncommon – I’ve worked in those kinds of rooms a couple of times throughout my career and a friend lived in one of those for several years too.
They are definitely noticeably hotter in the summer months and you need to shade them during the day and open the windows at night to deal with the hottest time in the summer.
As a tall guy this makes me cringe. Germans are a heighthy people. Germans also have a unique prediliction toward masochism.
If youre someone who overheats easily, look elsewhere. Attic rooms can get *very* hot in summer
That’s a small portable AC that won’t help you in summer in such attic room. Running it all day around would also cost a fortune in such a room.
If all windows are on the same side you can’t even make a draft in there.
Lately we’re getting more and more hot days in summer, I live not in the top floor and not facing south but my apartment was getting solid 27-28 degrees all day around. I had a portable AC that’s not that small and it’s only suitable for cooling down the bedroom to be able to sleep.
As somebody mentioned already here whoever lives there uses that as a greenhouse so unless you like smell of weed that won’t go away and enjoy sauna better look for something else.

Mine isn’t quite like that, mine looks a lot more bland. It’s mainly used for storage atp, but there’s 2 bedroom (well 1 large bedroom with half a divider and 2 beds) and a bathroom. Not super fancy, but works if we have guests
You cannot cool a room if the exhaust from the AC is going through a wide open window.

I have the same AC for my attic room. You have to consider it is very loud. You won’t use it all day, it would bother a lot to have it in the living room, for example.
In south Germany you can have in that room 30 degrees for few months, especially if it is positioned south and with not good insulation
Angled attics – yes, wooden style – yes. I even see portable air conditioning exhaust which is so common here as houses are supposed to only heat.
The ones with a growing tent are kinda new, from april 2024 on.
