We’re the only ones with an ocean named after us!

Edit: Didn’t read the key, technically, the vast majority of the Indus River isn’t in India. It’s mostly in Pakistan.

named by who lol? India is still a very recent name given by the folks outside of India.

PS – I meant Indians living in India in whatever age (be it 500 BCE etc) never referred to this land as India … I dont know why the title says named after water bodies when in-fact the OG settlement here never used “India” to refer to this piece of land

an interesting fact about people in these countries, their bodies are over 50% water

Not a country per se but the Iberian peninsula is named after a river, the modern Ebro, ancient Iber, which I think is quite neat

  5. Isn’t the Jordan river outside of the kingdom of Jordan? Or do you consider a river right on the border of a country to be „in it“?

  6. Since India is named after a body of water (the Indus River), and ‚Indonesia‘ implies ‚Indian Islands,‘ can we technically say that Indonesia is also named after a body of water?

  7. Technically, another way to refer to Argentina is by its river: United Provinces of the Río de la Plata. Nobody uses it.
