      By contrast, Bulgaria actually grew during WWII, despite being on the losing side. „The Quadrilateral“ shown here in grey was ceded by Romania in the 1940 Treaty of Craiova.

      This seems unreasonable until you realize ethnic Hungarians practically only lived in that 18%.

      The map is wrong for Bulgaria. Southern Dobruja was ceded to Romania after the 2nd Balkan War in 1913 with briefly being taken back in 1918 when Romania surrendered to Central Powers until Germany collapsed, but, in 1918, Romania ceded the entire Dobruja historical region, not only the southern part.

      Also I think the map forgets the bulgarian litoral to Egean sea annexed by Greece after WW1.

      It’s honestly bizzare how unnoticed Bulgaria has gone in recent history.

      – Joined the Central Powers in WW1
      – Joined the Axis Powers in WW2
      – Joined the Warsaw Pact in the Cold War.
      – Lost minimal territory after all of that.
      – Then they joined NATO and EU like nothing ever happened.

      Edit:
      – Joined the „Board of Peace“ as well.

      I don’t see this as Germany, etc losing their territory as much as it was countries gaining their independence

      The percentage numbers don’t make sense in relation to the proportions of the maps?

      Bulgaria is totally wrong. This shows the territorial change after the two Balkan Wars and World War 2, and it still misses areas in the West. The „disputed“ area is what Bulgaria got after the First Balkan War and subsequently kept it.

      It’s so weird how Austria lost Tirol but Hungary had to lose so much of its territory. I honestly get why they’re still pissed lol

      The „lost“ northern territory had just been occupied since 1864.

      To anyone wondering, this is the deep reason why Hungarians are still raging and in Germany 1930’s mood. They never got over this.

      The map is wrong for Bulgaria. Western Thrace was lost, and given to Greece.

      The map is completely wrong for Bulgaria. It shows a mish mash of territorial changes, none of which happened due to WW1.

      What? The map for Bulgaria is completely wrong. Bulgaria lost Western Thrace and territories along the western border after WW1 they are not even shown on this map.

      Southern Dobrudzha was lost to the Romanians in 1913, before WW1.

      The southern territories on the map were gained in 1912, again, before WW1.
