Prince Harry has released a statement in response to Trump’s remarks:

*“In 2001, Nato invoked Article 5 for the first—and only—time in history. It meant that every allied nation was obliged to stand with the United States in Afghanistan, in pursuit of our shared security. Allies answered that call.*

*“I served there. I made lifelong friends there. And I lost friends there. The United Kingdom alone had 457 service personnel killed.*

*“Thousands of lives were changed forever. Mothers and fathers buried sons and daughters. Children were left without a parent. Families are left carrying the cost.*

*“Those sacrifices deserve to be spoken about truthfully and with respect, as we all remain united and loyal to the defence of diplomacy and peace.“*

The royals actually served in the military. *Trump did not.*

So we can expect Trump to really rage defensively on this one, his ego won’t allow for this „insult“.

    3. LittleSchwein1234 on

Trump has no idea what respect means. He only respects himself.

He mocks other countries, their governments, militaries, veterans, he mocks American veterans…

    4. HandleWild4305 on

Just remember that is coming from a guy that him and his whole family dodged the draft

    5. A_Dehydrated_Walrus on

Say what you will about the royal family, but I will always have respect for Prince Harry signing up to serve in Afghanistan. It was a noble thing to do. Leading by example.

    6. Not one Trump served in any type of military service. In fact, he has openly called these people losers and suckers. He has no respect for any veteran. This family is an absolute shit stain (both figuratively and literally) on America.

    7. Good_Briefs on

Trump doesn’t respect American troops who have died in wars much less other country’s sacrifices. 🙁

    8. Sherlockian_Whimsy on

A lot of things deserve respect. Being respectful used to be considered a nearly universal sign of strength, morality, and wisdom.

The far right now consider respect to be a weakness. They consider strength, morality, and wisdom to be design flaws in the human character.

A Canadian sniper in Afghanistan held the world record for the longest sniper kill for several years until it was finally broken.

      Just sayin’….

    10. Silicon_Knight on

This is the same guy who doesn’t respect his own troops. Think he gives a flying fuck about any?

Only thing Trump cares about is his bank account and his ballroom. Thats it.

    11. Expect within 48 hours Trump will order the DOJ to invent a crime to pin on Harry. This is exactly the kind of thing Trump has been waiting for.

    12. lingeringneutrophil on

This guy at least showed up for the army; so draft dodger Trump can have a stadium of seats

    13. Nothing is going to happen. I mean, Trump has already been elected twice after disparaging members of the military he leads

    14. Helpful_Driver6011 on

Didnt USA take the „lead“ because they had the most soldiers and tech aswell as a responsible big brother? Im sad to se lives go lost if its British, american, russian or ukranian. But this just seems like Trump is harvesting back kidneys being offered by american soldiers sacrificing their life. Im not defending Trump, im not even american but that statement is not just offensive against britain its offensive against american soldiers giving up their life thinking they were making the world a better place, when it was all about resources and control.

    15. Mark Carney’s speech said it all. The world is wide awake and done with America, and sick of pedo nepo bitch baby Trump.

    16. 401kmaxxing on

To even react much less respond to anything Trump says is just giving him validation and feeling of importance tbh

I think the most insulting thing the rest of the world do is literally ignore every word uttered by Trump and never comment on them, as if he never said them

Trump will go into ultra toddler tantrum mode in no time and make absurd ragebait comments like „THE NUCLEAR OPTION IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION“ but if people just continue to ignore him, like a toddler, he will quiet down on his own

    17. Spiritual_Smile9882 on

Trump does not understand respect. Literally EVERYTHING is transactional with him, and he not only wants to win every transaction but his brain is so fundamentally broken that he believes that the only way for him to win is for the other side to lose.

As an American that was born before the War on Terror and lived my formative years during the nearly 20 year occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, the absolute disregard for our friends who answered the ONLY time Article 5 has been activated is appalling.

We may never return to a time where the US could be regarded as a friend in my lifetime. We are a pariah state and absolutely deserve the hardship that is coming as a result of betraying our friends.

I feel nothing but shame and contempt for the „leaders“ I voted against 3 times.

    19. GandalfsNozzle on

I have never served and have no family members that have, but I have monumental respect for anyone in the armed forces because, to be honest I don’t have the balls to join.

This, amongst the myriad of shite that spews from Trump’s mouth, has infuriated me more than anything else.

Unless we receive a grovelling apology we should cancel the kings visit to the US and also boycott the Olympics and World Cup.

      But that’s never happening.

    20. Hard to argue with that service and sacrifice should never be brushed off for politics.

    21. Trump doesn’t even respect his own troops. Why would he respect anyone else’s troops?

    22. Copper_Wasp on

I hate how they always pipe up for the easy virtue signal, but silent on anything difficult.

    23. Well, they don’t, but neither do Americans. I don’t care what the current political climate is you’re not going to get me to feel respect for a bunch of invaders that caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people because of a pointless war.

    24. Man what the fuck did trump say this time to anger our allies? Such a fucking embarrassment man.

    25. So I suppose Harry will be looking for a new country to live in now, trump will surely have him tossed out of the US.

    26. trump, the republican party, and maga will never respect anyone, they are disgusting and always will be.

    27. Logical___Conclusion on

Rapey McBonespurs Trump has made a habit of dissing soldiers as „suckers and losers.“

    28. sitting-duck on

From a Canadian’s point of view, this insult to his allies deeply pains me.

We lost four soldiers (the first of many) to a US F16 trigger happy National Guard pilot.

For more info, wiki Tarnak Farms.

    29. Careful what you say, Harry you’ll get deported. I don’t think you’re a US citizen.

    30. CLAIM: Today President Donald Trump stated that the US has got “nothing out of NATO”.
FACT: The one and only time that Article 5 has been invoked was in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks on the US when NATO aircraft were deployed to help US airspace. Subsequently NATO assumed command of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in 2003. 159 members of the Canadian Armed Forces were killed in action in Afghanistan including Sergeant Marc Daniel Léger, Corporal Ainsworth Dyer, Private Richard Green and Private Nathan Lloyd Smith who were killed by “friendly fire” from a US F-16 in the Tarnak Farm Incident. These 159 lives plus the estimated 635 wounded in action and 1,436 Non Battle Injuries are not “nothing”, at least as I see it.

    31. mindovermatter421 on

Be careful Harry. He will change your status without even blinking. They are already revoking visa’s for whole groups of people.

    32. Trump doesn’t even respect the sacrifices of US soldiers. He called them “losers” if I remember correctly. Another unbelievably ironic statement coming from the leader of the MAGA movement.

    33. A reminder to any UK citizens. Nigel Farage/Reform would bend over backwards for Trump. He would sell us all out to America. Farage supports this kind of attitude and disgusting speech. Have a good think about that before voting in a few years.

    34. The world is sick of clown show. I cant even imagine how stressful life must be to American these days, seeing the end of democracy and civil rights.
