  1. Lutnick looks and acts like the worst salesman on a used car lot not sure why anyone would listen to a word he says.

  2. DudeIsThisFunny on

„Speaking on Bloomberg TV, Lutnick said Canada has “the second-best deal in the world” and accused Carney of complaining.“

This is not champion mentality Howard. You got silver, why do you need gold? Can’t you be happy with that? Do you think champions settle for second best or think that way? Good enough isn’t good enough

  3. alice2wonderland on

Lutnick is a Trump echo chamber. A very empty echo chamber. Carney’s speech had substance; something that the US isn’t going to ever get from their current president.

  4. Tiny-Albatross518 on

Lutnick got booed out and started a stampede for the door when he was speaking?

Carneys speech is one for the ages.

  5. lilhippie89 on

They are just jealous that Carney is such a fantastic and strong leader that doesnt need to resort to anger, division and nazi ways to run the country. He has so much respect on the world stage and is overall the preferred pm across Canada. His speech is still being talked about and praised by world leaders. Trump and his administration are an embarrassment and will never be respected the way Carney is.

  6. Sand_Seeker on

Check out his education vs Carney’s. That guy couldn’t write a fast food chain jingle let alone a speech like Carney’s.

  7. 2 words – F off !

Lutnick’s investigation for insider trading would be easiest case to prosecute when all these trump dominos eventually falls

  8. External_Excuse_9949 on

Nutlick isn’t even in the same league as Carney. What an embarrassment America has become. It’s sad but funny too.

  9. Subject-Fee3470 on

People got up and walked out of Lutnick’s dinner presentation in Davos. It was so bad that the host ended the event before desert.

  10. And I guess Trump’s rambling speech in which he couldn’t remember which country he wants to invade was the best speech at Davos??

  11. Who the fuck is lutnick and why should I care what he thinks?

As a Canadian… I do not give a fuck what he thinks.

    He can pound sand.

  12. Routine_Soup2022 on

It is RABIDLY ironic that Howard Nutlick, I mean Lutnick, is talking about anyone else generating political noise. He’s like a political parrot using a loudspeaker.

  13. Anything Lutnick says to do just makes you want to see the opposite happen. What a piece of work. There is a new expression for when someone says something dumb and offensive all at once- „Pulled a Lutnick“.

  14. Underoverthrow on

Scott Bessent’s lies, hypocrisy and threats are at least somewhat indicative of what the US admin wants to achieve.

Lutnick straight up isn’t worth listening to.

Of the two former Wall Street guys in the US cabinet it’s shocking how easy to tell which one is the smart evil guy and which one is the bag of hot air.

  15. obviousottawa on

I don’t get it. Why is Lutnick cautioning us on China when Trump praised it and said it’s what we should be doing? Also, I don’t get why we should care what he said, but that’s beside the point.

  16. All this guy has done for the last year is insult and threaten us…I don’t think anyone up here cares what he says.

Given a world stage at the WEF, he used it to insult and threaten everyone else, to the point of serious people having to boo him and Christine Lagarde walking out.

It is simply madness at this point, madness in service of a mad king, and I think that, finally, the world has had enough.

  17. Appropriate_Mess_350 on

Lutnick’s dismissive suggestion that the China deal threatens CUSMA renegotiation, is a stark example of the need for the ‘new order’ Carney spoke of.
I think the administration has been caught off guard by the collective international pushback and the stark difference between the extreme lack of pushback domestically. The threats bely their confidence and reveal their growing desperation.

  18. No_Carry385 on

What a surprise, another hollow criticism that reads as projection. These people cand stand others who have merit and integrity and are the most shallow, hollow, useless people. It baffles me that these people get to speak on the world stage like their words have any meaning.

  19. king_bungholio on

Fuck the US. I really don’t care at this point if CUSMA is renewed, especially if their intent is just to use it as a cudgel any time we do or say something they don’t agree with. At the rate this administration is going, their top trading partners will be mighty El Salvador, Puppet-state Venezuela, Argentina, Hungary and Israel.

  20. Nutlick had all the Blackrock investors walk out on his speech at Davos, which is a special feat that it takes real talent to achieve. He’s in no position to snipe at Canada after that little gem.

  21. I love to hear the jeering dismissal and veiled threats from the yanks. That’s how you know Carney was right. With these schoolyard halfwits every bluster and threat is an admission of fear, as every accusation is an admission of guilt
    .

  22. Lutnick seem like the type of guy that took a lot of crack in his day, so much so that he’s lost a lot of intelligence. Which would explain why he’s up trump’s ass so much.

  23. Agent_Burrito on

Nutlick has to be one of the most disappointing picks of this administration. Imagine having all that business acumen and experience and throwing it all away for right wing brownie points he didn’t even need. The guy could’ve retired in a villa in the south of France but instead he’s enabling the delusions of an old, angry man.

  24. I mean, anyone can just go and watch the Davos speech from Carney and compare it to Trump and determine themselves what had substance, and what was political noise.

  25. LOL, it’s impossible to take anyone seriously that tries to gaslight me into thinking the speech was bad.

Any criticism that doesn’t acknowledge the content of the message and impact of the speech on world politics can easily be dismissed.

People can disagree on specific parts of the content or the points made and counter with their own views on where and why they think Carney is mistaken, but attempts to dismiss the whole thing out of hand just proves they either don’t have any policy to back up their view or are too dumb to understand it.

  26. MojoRisin_ca on

    >Lutnick cautioned that Ottawa’s recent deal with China could upend CUSMA negotiations, which have started ahead of a mandatory review this year. That deal will see China lower agricultural tariffs in exchange for Canada opening some market access for Chinese electric vehicles.

    >Lutnick said Canada is “playing with a set of rules that they haven’t really thought through.”

    Two things:

    1. If you listen to Carney’s speech, he has most definitely thought this through.
    2. Canada and Mexico are negotiating without Trump using CUSMA as their framework. They have already minimized reliance on American ports using each others‘ instead. More money and trade for Canada and Mexico. Less for the USA.

We won’t ever be able to cut the USA totally out of our economic futures because of geography, but we need to hedge our bets. Like Carney said in his speech, we can no longer rely on the superpowers not to use economic or military coercion to eat up or subjugate the little and middle size fish. Middle powers must band together and stop competing to be the USA’s lapdog.

  27. So when they do deals with others at our expenses it’s fair play (including China) but when we try to protect our own interests after being backstabbed, we don’t know what’s in our „best interests“.

    F*ck right off.

  28. One man got a standing ovation.

One man got booed and walked out on.

I can see why he might be a bit bitter about how speeches have gone.
