  1. *From Bloomberg News reporter Andrea Palasciano:*

NATO’s chief said a breakthrough over Greenland was secured without discussing the territory’s sovereignty with President Donald Trump.

Secretary General Mark Rutte told Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that the discussion centered on Arctic security in a “practical sense,” and how to prevent Russia and China from accessing the semi-autonomous Danish territory.

Ok, does anyone have a trustworthy source that tells us what was actually discussed?

Rutte is a coward I don’t expect his “deal” to amount to anything other than fucking over Greenland and Denmark

To be fair, we dont know who is lying about this- Rutte, or the pathological liar.

We already know Rutte is consistently subservient to Trump, as evidenced by their private messages released by Trump, and his former awkward „Daddy“ comment which Trump reminded everyone about.

This general EU sentiment is corroborated by macron’s recent messages to Trump, that Trump also released.

Taken together, they appear subservient and in agreement with all but their public position on Greenland. So, now what else was said in private? We don’t know.

But we know they appease Trump at almost every step of the way. The EU appears to lack strong and unified leadership, and perhaps most importantly EU leaders continue to say some things publically to look tough. But then in private are cordial and in agreement on many things.

It’s very confusing, or perhaps very clear.

He probably promised complete jurisdiction (like they have with Gitmo in Cuba) and said it was basically equivalent to sovereignty, which I’m sure was always available to them anyway. Then Trump just declared they’d been offered sovereignty

From Trump’s own speech, he was moved to make the statement that he wouldn’t use force because the stock market was reacting negatively to the idea. And he really cares about the stock market level as a marker of him being successful. I don’t think there’s much more depth behind the ‚assurance‘ besides wanting the numbers to go up again.

  8. Trump put Rutte on the spot and Rutte has to figure out how to solve this. I think is what happened.

  9. So, Rutte basically sold the orage toddler the already existing 1951 agreement. Just as expected. This really is the dumbest of timelines.

  10. Someone, please, give Rutte some water to moisturize his tongue for all that ass licking.
