    Besucher vom chinesischen Festland waren im Jahr 2025 mit 2.002,6 Milliarden Yen die ausgabenreichsten unter den ausländischen Besuchern Japans, teilte die Japan Tourism Agency am Mittwoch mit.

      Can Japanese news make up their mind. I see conflicting stories by day, one day it is OMG Chinese tourists aren’t coming the Japanese economy is in ruins, the next it is BEST tourism numbers EVER without Chinese tourist, we don’t need Chinese tourist good riddance!

      Like which one is the real side…

      Want Chinese money but don’t want Chinese people. It’s a sad state of affairs. American tourists can be just as obnoxious but get rationalized away because of skin color and their culture. Chinese somehow don’t get the same pass.

      There are actually a lot of Chinese Japanphiles (especially those from 江南, the rich part of China) but Japan really tries hard to alienate every one of them. They could solve their demographic problem significantly by courting those Chinese who like Japan and would actually assimilate decently. It would require some revolutionary thinking but would turn around the Japanese economy in so many ways.
