      ICE is funded through 2029 because of the budget bill Republicans passed earlier this year. We need immigration control – our borders still need to be patrolled, laws enforced and undocumented criminals rounded up. The argument before Congress right now is funding for DHS… which is the operational budget for ICE – but that budget also includes FEMA. It’s a sticky situation to just go around yelling „abolish ICE“. It isn’t as easy as that. Mamdani should know that. And so should everyone else.

      ICE needs to be reduced and reformed to *only* go after people who crossed the border illegally and evaded Border Patrol. They should be a tiny agency. They shouldn’t actively enforce it either, if someone gets picked up for other reasons ICE should be called. They should be pencil pushers who occasionally drive people to the airport.

      Visa overstays, greencard revocations, stays of deportation expiring, etc all that bullshit we’re seeing them target now under Trump should and could be handled in a civil way and with zero involvement from ICE, apart from physical arrest happening as a **last resort**, not a first as they’re doing now.

      Yeah, but didn’t you see Gavin Newsom tell his friend, right wing propagandist Ben Shapiro that ICE aren’t terrorists and are just misunderstood? That’s the position we need to take if we want Republicans to vote for a Democrat president in 2028. /s

      I hear nothing but good things about this guy even outside of Reddit and some actual senators on Facebook have been calling him an extremist Muslim jihadist and that’s just absolutely disgusting.
      How can you even pretend to not be racist at this point?

      I don’t think anger is „growing“ so much as the media and elected democrats are timidly giving themselves permission to talk about it.

      Let’s compare this to dem leadership refusing to call for ICE to be abolished and Schumer’s call for bipartisanship this past Friday.

      It was a legal shooting. ICE are assholes. Most of these officers know what they are allowed to do. Most citizens have no idea and fun on internet misinformation.
