This must mean that the Netherlands is becoming a third-world country. Of course, it doesn’t mean that, but this is what people say about polish people returning to Poland from the UK.
Oh no!
Must be due to Brexit right
If it means more housing, than I am all for it. But I guess we are now getting more Bulgarians and Romanians?Â
Papers spin this as some kind of insult, but honestly, most people prefer to live in their home country. Poland caught up and you can live decently there, so no reason to stay a second class foreigner somewhere else.
Let’s not start a hate spree against fellow Europeans. Now is a bad time.
Poles moving away from the Netherlands now that Poland’s economy is doing well is not a failure of the system, it is exactly the intended outcome. Wealthier countries initially benefit from more affordable labor in low wage jobs, while less-developed countries gain the opportunity to grow economically and strengthen their own markets.
This is precisely what the EU is meant to achieve, reducing economic disparities between member states so that, over time, all countries can reach a similar level of prosperity. The result is freedom of choice, people can live and work where they genuinely want to, not where they are economically forced to be.
Been to Poland in Wrotslaw and the town became a city in 6 months. Huge improvement and lovely people, however being one of the biggest beneficiaries of the eu they sure seem to like that anti eu piss party a lot, shame!
It means that economy in Poland is good enough to generate income for their people. No longer required to go abroad for work.
That’s how usually should work
Having traveled extensively through Europe the last couple decades, Poland is one of the few places that got better, and more important you still feel like you’re in Europe
Great, we need more strong economically developed democracies in the EU
We had Spanish and Italian guest workers in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Same story.
The issue might be that Netherlands and UK are more stagnant and that isn’t quite helpful. Europe being more stagnant puts it in a precarious position as well. Politically and geopolitically.
I would say that a better way to look to it is to say that the immigration from Poland to Netherlands stopped. The ones coming back were still a small number ( not even 1000). For the ones who settled there for more than 15-20 years is not that easy to move back. After so many years they have their life there and going back is like immigrating for a second time.
Not surprised, Netherlands is going downhill and fast
Not surprised. Someone I know had unfortunate experience of being worker in Netherlands.
The housing crisis is solved!

As a Dutch person, the Polish people I’ve encountered here have all been good people and hard workers (one older guy was maybe too big of a fan of the ol‘ beer). A lot of them work here under pretty shitty conditions, especially in agriculture. If this means that Poland itself is doing well enough that they can find better employment there, that’s great. That was always the promise, and it’d be nice to see things actually work out well.
Dangerous link. Some nasty things just attached to my device.
