Judging by how most stores and workplaces (like construction) is open at 7am sharp – I highly doubt this.

It may be correct for school students maybe? I know at least in Norway it starts 8 – 8.15 for most older kids/teens.

  2. Is this mean? Median would make more sense as outliers are basically entirely dragging this in one, later direction.

I wake up at 5:40 but on the plus side I’m usually back in the house before 5.

This would work better with a gradient instead of 3 distinct colours imo. But cool map nontheless.

I wonder how this takes into account people who wake up between 7:13 PM and 11:59 PM.

Belgian here waking up at 6:00 on weekdays and 9:00-11:00 in the weekend

If you go by astronomical time rather than time zones people in Spain get up before UK and Ireland

  8. 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM seems to be the overall average time frame that Europeans wake up at in the morning.

Definitely not my experience of France and the UK. People wake up way earlier in both countries. I’m not sure what’s the purposes of these posts with data so obviously wrong. No sources, no methodology, dubious results. Diss on Europeans? Dream about our supposedly soft and cushiony lives?

Remember that Spain share the hour of Berlin, not London. So I assume spaniards are waking up at 07:05 according to their geographic meridian

French living in Belgium, wake up time 6.30 during weekdays, 8.30 at the latest during weekends. Bedtime around 2-3 in all cases.

This is meaningless if it doesn’t include or respect the time zones.

Spain is in the same TZ as Central Europe, but parts of Spain should be CET+2.

I.e. a Spaniard and a Pole both getting up at 7:30 today would mean the Polish person gets up at sunrise, the Spaniard gets up before dawn.

As it seems, there were lots of students in the query. Everybody else is waking up earlier than the times shown.

  14. 7:25 sounds terribly late for Germany. Most people already work at 8 pm and most schools start around that time, too. By rule of thumb I’d say that it’s about 1 hour off.

If people wake up at 7:35, how tf am I always stuck in traffic jams at 7am…
