There’s also the fact that 95% of his criticism looks like overt partisan jabs or desperate and disingenuous attempts at making Carney seem like a liar or distrustful. We saw similar stuff during the campaign where he accused him of plagiarism. Now it’s „look he got no deal, and he totally promised one!“ The thing is, most reasonable people can tell Trump is not: they aren’t going to hold Carney or anyone accountable for not getting a deal with Trump. It seems to be his only line of attack that has even a shred of credibility, but the shred doesn’t hold a lot of weight when put up against the depth of the situation.

  2. The problem for Poilievre is that he wants to be proven right, and he cares about that far more than winning. He wants people to go up to him and say „I was wrong for voting Liberal in 2025, you were right about everything“. Unfortunately for Pierre, the world does not revolve around what he wants.

For example, look at Poilievre’s social media thus morning. Trump put out a new threat against Canada, but instead he’s talking „sneaky Liberal Carbon Taxes“. He wants to be right about the Carbon Tax, and have everybody apologize to him and admit he was right about it. That’s why he can’t let it go.
