„Die Wut über die eigenen finanziellen Probleme (des japanischen Volkes) wird an den Ausländern ausgelassen“, sagte Jiho Yoshimizu, Leiter einer in Tokio ansässigen gemeinnützigen Organisation, die vietnamesische Staatsangehörige unterstützt.

Majority of these crimes by foreigners are in fact related to visa and immigration issues.
Also regarding illegal work, a lot of SE Asian workers have been exploited and rather forced to work in different jobs by „Japanese“ bosses.
Intern Technical Training program is itself full of flaws, its a system created to make sure poor people from SE Asia can only work in Japan but cannot settle here or learn the language and integrate. They are basically similar to SSW Type 1 visa (Type 2 allows indefinite renewals, allowing foreigners to settle and aim for PR or naturalization, but Type 1 kicks out people within 5 years max with no renewals allowed).
Also the program restricts workers from changing their jobs, meaning they are often stuck in low paying toxic environments with no alternative left.
Majority of Vietnamese workers that come through this program often has to pay a hefty sum to their agencies back in Vietnam.
With a low pay and huge debt to the agencies, these workers are severely under pressure to earn.
Hence you see „Vietnamese steals copper, water taps, etc etc“. Vietnamese people tbh shouldn’t be blamed for this. The system makes them do so. (**I am not Vietnamese, so don’t accuse me of defending my race**)
**Thankfully, that program is ending in 2027 due to human rights violations and labour violations and is getting replaced by a good ESD system which allows such workers to transition into ACTUAL SSW Type 2, meaning such foreign workers can integrate better and allows for long-term stay, and also allows to bring over their families.**
Let’s kick out all the hardworking Vietnamese, Nepalese, Filipino,… and get 500k Indians in as exchange.
Your current PM just doing this to blame foreigners and gaining instant supports. It won’t solve any longterm problems, and maybe cause more chaos.
