  1. I was supposed to visit twice last year, one for business, one for pleasure.

The business trip was cancelled due to the political climate and fear of being detained at the airport.

The vacation trip was changed to a different country and continent.

Well played USA, you sure stopped my pale ass from contributing to your tourism earning.

I don’t understand why international tourists aren’t coming to the US. They could enjoy beautiful scenery, great food, and only a slight risk of being grabbed by the secret police and made to disappear forever.

  3. Emergency_Link7328 on

Why would anyone want to visit a shit-hole like the US is beyond me.

To be robbed? Shot dead? Sent to a concentration camp? Not to mention the health issues due to no regulations on food and the constant bedbugs infestations on American hotels.

I certainly noticed it when my family went on its annual road trip to VT over the summer. Lot less Canadian license plates then there have been in the past, but that’s not the big thing I noticed.

The local major state fair near me called The Eastern States Exposition or simply, The Big E has a section on their fairgrounds of these giant buildings that are all modeled after the state houses of each NE state and inside each one is like a mini version of the state with tourism organizations and most importantly, local state businesses having vendor areas to promote their business. Walking around the state houses this past fall, we noticed that a lot of our favorite businesses from a couple states weren’t there and couldn’t figure out why. Until we asked someone who said that a lot of businesses didn’t make the money that they typically do over the summer that they use to pay the vendor fee at the fair in the fall. The vendor fees didn’t increase, but the states and businesses just didn’t make the summer profits from foreign tourism that they typically do to pay for the vendor space.

They probably already know what love is, and don’t need is to show them.

You mean people don’t want to vacation to a country controlled by an authoritarian regime where masked thugs are kidnapping people on the street with zero consequences? Weird.

I say this as an American.

  7. Interesting…the decline was offset by domestic tourism and grew overall. So, foreigners are traveling to the US less, but Americans are also ditching their international trips and vacationing more at home.

I honestly feel like this is a win/win. Last time I was in Italy, it felt like American Disneyland. There were American tourists everywhere and zero authenticity until we left the city. In Florence I’m pretty sure I heard more English than I did Italian on the streets.

I think the overall goal here is to weaken the US dollar which isn’t really a bad thing.

  8. Used to go every 1-2 years to the US, for two or three weeks. Spent a lot of money, had a good time.

Never again will I spend one more cent on those backstabbing idiots. Canceled 2025 and 2026 trips.

And yeah yeah, “not all of us voted for him blabla”. The fact that there aren’t pitchfork wielding mobs on the front lawn of the White House by now to drag the tiny handed vulgarian out and make him eat his diaper, says enough about the “land of the free, home of the brave”. They elected him TWICE ffs!

And get those ice rouges to deport them to god knows where? No thanks

„Are you a citizen!? Are you a citizen!? Get out of the car now! Comply!“

    That’s why.

  11. The United States is a beautiful country with many wonderful people and places. Unfortunately, it has been stained a Cheetos shade of shit and it will take a lot of work and a lot of time for Americans to scrub it from their image.

The United States has a lot of natural beauty and experiences that I think everyone should see, I’ve also enjoyed talking to a lot of foreigners when I’ve been vacationing inside the country and they’ve all been sweet, fun people.

However, with the current government and climate I’m ashamed to say that I recommend everyone stay away. Trump and his supporters are not hospitable people and civil rights are no longer respected in this country.

I also don’t look forward to my overseas trips I have planned this year where I have to explain to people „I didn’t vote for him, I’m sorry for what he’s doing“.

I’m surprised travel to the US didn’t drop even more with what’s going on

  14. My wife and I have a ‘no going to violently politically unstable places’ rule

We were eying up Florida, but I just don’t fancy it. She’s non white and it’s not worth the risk.

  15. Good.

I hope tourism operators who voted for Republicans feel the full impact. Every single one of them deserves it.

There are similar and better scenic places on Canada amyway:

    – Niagara Falls? Canada side is better.

    – Glacier/Rocky Mtn National Parks? Banff/Jasper are better.

    – Acadia National Park? Fundy National Park is better.

    – First People’s Buffalo Jump? Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump is much cooler.

    – New York? Nah, Vancouver.

Florida? Just stay the fuck home, everything uis better than that shithole.

I could go on and on. Don’t go to the US, come to Canada.

World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced that the U.S. is on track to lose a staggering $12.5 in 2025.

U.S. stands to lose about $30 billion in international tourism this year (2026)

Keep up the good work…. make the projected $30b, 40 or 50.

  17. I can speak for the DC area, tourism is way way down, and it’s really screwing up the service and tourism industries here.

  18. Satanic_Doge on

And here I am hoping more people cancel their trips here. Money is the only language our oligarchs understand.

    Please keep boycotting us.

  19. Oh no! I can’t possibly believe people don’t want to go to the beautiful use anymore! Not like there’s a chance you’ll get stolen by the new ss and taken to where your family will never see you again for the crime of posting on social media or having any skin tone darker than pale. /s

  20. I’ve always loved the USA (even seriously thought of emigrating to the US in the future) but there is zero chance i’ll be visiting the US while Trump is in power and i’m now actively avoiding buying anything made in America.

  21. FluidManufacturer442 on

I live in a very tourist-heavy area. Already felt a noticeable drop last year. Anxious about what this coming summer brings us

  22. heavy-minium on

I’m sad because I wanted to visit more of the U.S. but I truly fear for my security or at the very least some kind of harassment (social medial checks, spying on data on devices) or just being shot/hurt on the street for no special reason.

  23. wauponseebeach on

Took a trip to Japan and Australia a few months back, and many of the people we talked to say they wanted to visit the US but were afraid. Some because of Trump but most because of gun violence.

  24. PuppyLove1982 on

I have several friends that vacation together every summer. We usually go to Key West or Miami. None of us feels safe from Republicans/Nazis in Southern States so we’re going to Europe instead. Better to reward countries that don’t kidnap and murder our allies and citizens.

  25. I’m one of those. Cancelled a vacation I was planning to do there, and instead went to Australia.

I’ve also rejected going to a team meetup over there.

66% of the people willing for this mess (or not giving a shit about it) it’s way too many shitty people to be around with.

    Not going there anytime soon.

  26. I went there last year as I’d booked the trip before Trump won the election, likely will not step foot in the US again for the forseeable future, not while Trump and his degenerate filth are in power. Just dont want to have anything to do with them and the fascist fuckwits ruining everything for everyone both there and across this side of the Atlantic as well.

  27. macross1984 on

Yeah, right. Visit a country that created barriers, harass you and potentially arrest you when you’re there?

Dream on, Trump and people who voted for him.

  28. Most people from New Zealand book big trips way in advance. I don’t know anyone booking a trip for later this year or next year to USA. People went who booked their 2025 trip in 2024, because it’s expensive to cancel. I do know several people booking Canada or Euro Summber for later this year. Good luck USA for 2026/2027 tourists. It’s not safe for us.

  29. I wouldn’t have gone to Germany in the 1930s and don’t understand why anyone other than avowed Nazis would visit the US now

  30. A visit to the US has always been on my bucket list.

It was on my schedule for 2026/27 as I really wanted to attend the 40k Gaming tournament in Vegas.

There’s not a chance in hell I’d step foot in that country now. And I say this as an aging white guy who probably won’t get targeted at all.

  31. Material-Macaroon298 on

I won’t go there until after 2028. And even then, it assumes they elect a Democrat.

  32. time_slider1971 on

All thanks to Trump and his “very stable” business genius. Bigly.
