      With what equipment? Canada’s military is so underfunded they don’t have the proper equipment to arm their troops. They’ll probably borrow weapons and ammo from other NATO troops

      Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.  We have a choice between ramping up tension with the US or making it even less likely that NATO will stand with us if we need it.

      Trump has 3 more years. We will be in an alliance with EU and NATO for hopefully hundreds of years. We should stand with NATO and EU to protect their territories. If they want me to go… I’ll go.

      I say this with a full appreciation that our risk is arguably higher than that of European nations…. Canada needs to stand against tyranny now, not later. We need to toe the line with our allies against American (or any) aggression. If we let them pick off nations one by one, the world is doomed.

      If we are worth anything at all then we absolutely need to stand with the free world, how is this even a question?

      Trump could have succeeded by forming an enhanced strategic economic/military partnership with Greenland. Giving Greenlanders visa free work and study in the U.S. etc.

      Yes, it will probably piss off the USA, but we should do it anyway. We need to support our allies and hope they support us when we need it too.

      Some boots on the ground will say a lot about solidarity. We best start sticking up for our friends, because the day might come when we need them to stick up for us.

      Where was all the support for *US* when the USA threatened our annexation? Where was Europe’s firm response? Where was the global media outrage? Where was the offer of martial assistance?

      Heck, where is it today?

      Europe is clearly concerned with Denmark to a degree it just isn’t with us.

      This is utterly unacceptable to me.

      “With friends like these” and all that.

      I don’t think this should be a question. We absolutely should send some troops, in a similar way that the Europeans have.

      Trump is absolutely serious and if/when he goes for Greenland, he’ll go for Canada next to have everything north of the Mexican border. We need to show we’re serious, and that we’re with NATO
