I cannot believe that in australia, where almost everything can kill you, doesn’t have rabies.

    2. How can this be confirmed? How can you for sure know that there isn’t some fox, bat or whatever in for example italy that’s infected

Still don’t hug the bats in these countries because „rabies free“ doesn’t mean free of lysaviruses in bats

    4. Notice how most places are islands, frozen wasteland, or western Europe (where their ancestors ate most of the native wildlife centuries ago.)

I could’ve sworn someone died of rabies from a bat in Australia, it made me fear going out at night for a couple weeks.

THE OCEANS ARE FULL OF RABIES! Besides a few spots for some reason

I have my doubts about the accuracy of this. Especially regarding the entirety of Western Europe.

Why are these considered rabies free when they still have bats with rabies?

      Seems like propaganda

there is rabies in slovakia… not sure about the others but i know that. this map is wrong

    10. In Spain we recetly had a case of rabies again after decades, due to illegal immigration

Curious question. What has Europe Japan and other prominent nations have done to make themselves rabies free?

    12. I got bit by a monkey in Thailand and had to get rabies shots. You need to get shots for multiple weeks after the bite.

When I came back to my rabies-free home country it was like a comedy show every week, explaining to the doctors and nurses why I needed a rabies shot and them being genuinely excited to administer one for the first time in their lives.

    13. Moving to Antarctica to avoid the most frightening disease I could think of…

Your info isn’t current, I was in Western Europe just last week and bit a number of people.

      > it can be assumed that bat rabies occurs all over Europe.“

Apparently the map only considers dogs and other non flying animals, it doesn’t guarantee you can’t get rabies in those countries

I’m still gonna be scared of rabies even if my country is „rabies free“.

    17. Yeah, no. There is rabies in Norway, just only found in some bats and not really mapped/regularly tested for in them. I got the whole HRIG & rabies shot treatment after I got a minuscule wound from the tooth of a dead bat while dissecting it (found dead, for scientific purposes …). Cannot recommend!

How come Guernsey, Jersey, and Isle of Man aren’t free of rabies when the most of Europe is?
