Ich habe Angst, dass mein Flug zur Landung auf einen anderen Flughafen umgeleitet werden könnte. Könnte mir jemand einen Rat geben?

  1. Your pilots will know what to do, the wind is going to be roughly in line with run way and I don’t think I have heard many times when they don’t land because of wind…

It’s normal to worry, but you’ll be fine. It’s windy in malta quite often and pilots are more than competent

  3. No, you should not cancel your trip. Reasons:

    1. Your pilot will know better than you what are acceptable weather conditions.

    2. According to recent forecasts, the wind will be ESE, relatively parallel with runway 13. That means: you‘ll be landing into the wind. This is easier to handle than gusts from the side.

    3. I will be flying in around 22:00 tomorrow and am hopeful they will make it. I have seen bad weather here before and it always worked out.

    4. The descent into Malta will be bumpy, that’s for sure. But that’s what planes are made for; nothing to worry. If the pilot doesn’t like the way the plane acts on the last few (hundred) meters, they will not risk anything and go around, and then try again. Totally normal procedure, happens all the time. They might fly even two missed approaches until they decide to land somewhere else.

    5. Alternative airport is ususally Catania in Sicily, which looks less battered by wind in the forecast right now. So there is a safe alternative. Your airline will take care if accommodation, and you will then be told the next day how you get to Malta. Also nothing out of the ordinary.

All of this is escalatingly less and less probable; and therefore usually a better alternative than cancelling and rebooking upfront. Unless, of course, you and your ticket are flexible enough, then you can try Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday.

  4. You should cancel cuz usually its sunny and this week kinda sucks with all the rain

Yes do cancel your trip if you were thinking of having a picnic at Ta’Qali or flying kites at Dingli.
