Trump will just federalize it. States need to start building up their state guards, or create them if they don’t already exist

Might help him avoid being Maduroified.

I wouldn’t put it beyond the realms of possibility that someone in the MAGA/ICE echelons to decide he needed to be taken into custody. Escalation seems to be the name of the game as far as they’re concerned. We can only hope that’s born of a sense that their time to do whatever they want without consequence is becoming increasingly time limited and not because they’re emboldened by the idea that they currently will not face consequences as long as they can show to have been ‚Working towards the leader‘.

As a Michigander, I’m praying for the people of the beautiful state Minnesota, that they can get out of this shit. What’s being done in your state is stomach churning.  😢

  4. space_wiener on

I wonder if he’ll actually deploy them or just get them staged up to get someone to back off first.

‘Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has mobilized the state National Guard to support the Minnesota State Patrol, Army Maj. Andrea Tsuchiya, state public affairs officer for the Minnesota National Guard, said in a statement Saturday.

“We are staged and ready to respond. We are not deployed to city streets at this time,” Tsuchiya added.’

That’s the first 2 blocks of text in the article. The rest is mostly just more of the same, Walz & Frey being investigated by the DOJ, protests are still happening, and a Federal court recently ruled that ICE can’t detain or crowd control protesters.

  6. They sure aren’t doing this shit in red states. They’re in a blue city in a blue state to go after a perceived easy target. There’s a reason they aren’t in a blue city like San Diego or somewhere in red Texas like Brownville or Laredo.

A reminder: PROTESTS are happening because a trigger-happy ICE agent with rage issues popped THREE or maybe FOUR bullets into the face of a soccer mom

and within MINUTES, the entire apparatus of the Trump administration was lying to the entire world about what had happened.

    **THAT’S WHY PEOPLE ARE PROTESTING.**

so the national guard is mobilized only after civil unrest and not for an ICE invasion

    >“trump will just federalize them“

    what’s wrong with this picture?

  9. The National Guard should be immediately directed to push these fed terrorists out of the state.

  10. Interested to see what the guard members do. This will be the deciding moment.

  11. Trump will implement the insurrection act and Civil War II, Electric Boogaloo will kick off in earnest.

I don’t know the rules around federalizing, but what’s with all the folks talking about the NG being mobilized by Walz to *help* ICE?

  13. ArcusInTenebris on

Well, I guess we may get the answer to which side the military will back. I dont give great odds to the regular people.

  14. Politically, the correct way to frame this is ‚helping ice‘. Building a line between the protesters and the agents ‚doing their job‘ to prevent ‚disruptions‘.

    And once they’re there:

    * Ensure that protesters can record (and/or record ICE themselves)

    * Ensure ICE have the right warrants

    * Ensure ICE doesn’t enter private property

    * Ensure ICE doesn’t use force

    * Ensure ICE doesn’t escalate

    * Ensure that citizens aren’t detained

Bonus points if they drag their feet and slow ice down

  15. This explains all the Humvees I saw as I drove by Bobby and Steve’s on 35W.

  16. lazy-but-talented on

Is national guard vs ice in each state how the next civil war starts?

  17. gregortroll on

So now, I presume they (State Police and NG) will be out there beating, macing, and gassing protesters before the feds do it, like, „hey, these are our toys to break, not yours!“

We’ve seen this happen over and over.

  18. Are they gonna keep protestors off the streets and in their homes while ICE go door to door? Is that the plan?

  19. Substantial_Fee9719 on

Anyone celebrating this is a fool. Walz is completely useless and his current aim is to end the protests, not stop ICE. These guardsmen are going to be used to help local police, who are running interference and outright assisting ICE. Walz is either complicit in the crackdown or a complete moron.

Going to assume this was in anticipation of the n*zi rally they had planned today. Like 10 people showed up and they went to the counter protest instead of their planned route. The counter protest corralled them until they were stuck in a corner and then walked them back to their hotel. It was beautiful to see and over in like under an hour.

We were all expecting a bigger mess.

  21. I was hoping the Guard would be there to protect the protesters….-sigh- what was I thinking?

  22. Honest-Situation-738 on

    There it is.

I wonder if Trump knows how much firepower progressives control.

It’s gonna be messy, but I didn’t think there was any avoiding it anyway, so I’m not surprised to see the MNNG mobilized.

  23. HelpersWannaHelp on

They are not being mobilized to stop ICE. They will just protect property. So really means nothing to protect anyone from Trump’s violent army.

How much of the attack on MN is just an attempt to undermine a democratic front runner for 2028?
