Mandela Barnes is going to face attack ads over his defund the police comments. It’s what tanked his senate run.
Alabama has a lot of Mayors but idk about governor.
My great state of NY got both its first African American and Woman governors because a white man got in trouble.
Wow this really puts things into perspective.
My favorite part of this map is that DC is on it
People really still say “African American”?
Is Louisiana here because of Reconsturaction?
As from one from Wisconsin and progressive, Mandela Barnes is not going to win. He could not win the senate, I don’t know what he believes will win him the governors mansion.
Byron Donalds of Florida will likely be the next black governor, based off the current polls which he is dominating his party primary, and hypothetical polling for the general election.
What’s the blackest state that’s never had one? I’m guessing GA. Also, as someone from MD, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that MD is like the 3rd blackest state in the country
I met a black governor in Florida around 2013 am I mistaken?
Not only was he African American he was also blind…and kind of a crook.
tbf Louisiana had a black governor for 36 days over a century & a half ago
Total disaster
NC almost had one but it turned out he was a black nazi
Interesting, would be cool to see similar maps for Hispanic, female, gay etc. governors.
