Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland. Oh what a joy to be an ally of the united states.

Europe already unzipped and bowed down faster than I would’ve even expected last time around. Can European countries PLEASE just this time say “you’re threatening us with taxing your own citizens? Ok” and simply walk away. Please.

    3. I can’t believe that after all this time dealing with tariffs, even an AP News headline completely misrepresents what a tariff actually does and who it affects.

    4. Trump hasn’t made any case to the American people at all about why we should want to buy or take Greenland. It’s also very unpopular, even his base doesn’t like it. I’ve been assuming there was some politics reason he was doing this again (it was also unpopular last year), but this makes it seem like maybe he does just nakedly want Greenland for reasons he hasn’t articulated (besides Russia/China want it and will take it from a NATO country)

    5. The EU has a common market.. What sense is there in tariffing some EU members, but not others? Goods can simply be shipped internally and then exported by untariffed EU members. I swear, this administration either has no one with even basic knowledge of IR involved in making decisions, or those who do know how things work are intentionally creating ineffective policies to keep the Don happy while minimizing harm to our international relations.

Of all the things Trump has said and done…

      …This is the absolute dumbest.

As someone from one of those countries I don’t care. I rarely buy stuff from the US other than software, I’ll just buy it elsewhere. Beats appeasing a man who wants to reignite the colonial era.

It’s not the countries that will be charged, it’s the American citizens. When will he understand basic economics?

Not enough to change US buying habits, but enough to extract more taxes from US citizens. Thanks, Pedoprotector in Chief.

    10. He doesn’t understand that the retalitory tarifs are from all EU members.

„Charged“? AP carrying water for trump now.

A correct headline would be „Americans taxed 10% for importing goods from XYZ countries“

      The sanewashing needs to stop.

Hopefully supreme court will settle his tariff powers (soon).

And I can already hear someone say *“But Trump will argue that this is national security“* – Denmark and Greenland have already, many, many times, told that the US is welcome to invest in defense in the area. Pituffik base is already there, and there used to be many more.

This one of those classic Trumpian things where he’s afraid to come off as weak if i becks down, so he just keeps doubling down.

Unfortunately there are seemingly no adults left in the building, so Trump is allowed to keep shooting his foot – but unfortunately that foot is not only his, it is America’s foot that he keeps firing at.

Be a european country. Hear Trump complain about China and Russia wanting to take over Greenland. Send a few officers on a drill to coordinate the defence against such a hostile take over. Get tariffs from the US for responding to said security problem.

This irrational geopolitics, if the goal is to strengthen the US.

How much longer will Americans let this criminally insane orange child-rapist/felon rape and abuse their country and its global standing?
