  1. It was common in Poland within boomers (maybe as influence from Soviets under their regime idk)

My aunts and grandmothers used to do it

I HATED IT SO MUCH AS KID. Whole Christmas ruined because you had to kiss old wrinkly lady, disgusting

  2. Russian here, it’s not common in Russia.

EDIT: a lot of fellow Russians mentioned that it’s common in some cases. Can’t argue, Russia is a big country with different traditions in different social groups. But in general it’s not a common thing. At least not so common as handshake or wave.

Idk about all countries, but it’s not even a cheek kiss, well, it’s a literal cheek-kiss. Your cheeks „kiss“ together, your lips dont actually touch the other person

2 on each cheek if they’re close, 1 if they’re distant. 3 if it’s grandma or auntie

  5. In france (and I imagine other countries) you are not supposed to actually kiss.

It’s putting your face somewhat close to their left or right and kissing the air instead, though the COVID made it slightly less common (in winter especially, unsurprisingly)

  6. Depending of the country is: two kisses or one kiss. Usually in Latin America is just one kiss. In Spain it’s 2 kisses, depending on the closeness with the person you actually kiss on the cheeks or not.

  7. I’m from a red country living in a grey country, so it’s all handshakes here. It’s funny and awkward when I do a handshake back home.

It’s important to mention that it’s not mouth-to-check action, but cheek-to-cheek

  9. That shit is not common in Mexico. I live in America but right by the border, like half of the people are I know are Mexicans, this is not something any of them do 😭

Little specification: In Colombia is common between women and between men and women. Cheek kissing between two men is not a thing really.

  11. can anyone from brazil confirm if they casually kiss you on the lips as a form of greeting??

And that’s why the Anglo sphere has problems getting along with others. Doesn’t know affection is strangers. XD

I seem to remember older generations doing it here in England when I was younger but that was like 20 years ago. Never really see it at all now.

  14. Turkis here you dont kiss with your mouth you press your both cheeks and make the kiss sound with your mouth.

Not common amongst men. When I learned it and tried to do it with my friend he kissed me fr and said „I dont like fake kisses“

In my mom’s home province of Quebec it’s very common too, and not just amongst francophones.

Cheek kissing will help you move up the corporate ladder in most countries

The Netherlands: what a joke. I once tried to kiss a friend for greetings, they put me in jail.
