Canada pressures America to boycott Trump
Kick rocks buddy.
Sure, end it, I’m still not going to buy it
But they don’t need Canada?
From article
>The Trump administration is putting pressure on Canada to end a boycott of U.S.-made alcohol that’s hurting distillers. Most Canadians want their governments to hold firm.
Several Canadian provinces, including Ontario and Quebec, pulled U.S. wine and spirits from stores after President Donald Trump started a trade war last year, costing American booze-makers millions of dollars in sales.
Almost three-quarters of Canadians still support that initiative, while 20% think it’s time for provinces to resume selling American alcohol, according to a late December poll by Nanos Research Group for Bloomberg News.
Jim Beam paused production at its main U.S. distillery after slumping demand led to a whiskey glut. The company didn’t link the move to the loss of the Canadian market, but the Distilled Spirits Council has reported steep declines in exports to Canada, as well as to the European Union, U.K. and Japan.
Minnesota’s Phillips Distilling Co. took drastic measures in response to a decline of about 70% in Canadian sales by moving some production of its Sour Puss liquor — popular among young Canadian adults — to a contract manufacturer in Montreal to get around the ban.
“It was very frustrating. If you take away 15% of our branded business, that’s a big problem,” CEO Andrew England said in an interview.
“I have no idea how this is going to settle out with the U.S. and Canada,” he added, “which is why we need to operate separately in Canada, and just get on with it.”
In October, U.S. exports of wine and distilled spirits to Canada fell 84% and 56%, respectively, from a year earlier, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Last month, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer warned that lifting provincial booze bans is a key condition for securing a successful review of the U.S.‑Mexico‑Canada Agreement this year. Preserving the trade deal is crucial for Canada’s economy. Many products that are shipped under its rules are still exempt from U.S. tariffs. Without that exemption, Canadian exporters would face a much higher effective tariff rate.
But yesterday you said USA didn’t need Canada.
Why? They don’t need anything from us, including our money.
I’ve always known that we made good whiskey, now that I no longer buy American alcohol my eyes have been opened to several distilleries across the country that produce amazing whiskey.
Why would we?
it’s too late. canadians won’t buy it. we’ve already found canadian made or European alternatives.
i pressure trump and his pedophile party to release the trump files, cancel your illegal tariffs on the american people, leave Venezuela, stop whatever bullshit theya re trying to pull with greenland, and finally roll over and die
End the tariffs and finalize the review of CUSMA and we’ll talk. Until then, clearly the boycott is working
Hold firm. Wait till the US car manufacturers and liquor bosses show Trump the lost revenue from Canadian customers on a PowerPoint presentation. But I doubt Trump is smart enough to even understand PowerPoints.
I’ll drink rusty water before I dink American booze.
Pound sand.
Quiet, piggy
Hmm, maybe we should pressure America to end the tariffs first before we end the boycott of US liquor.
Wow, I thought he said they needs nothing from Canada. That includes my hard earned money too. Kindly F off, orange
Hopefully we save this card to play during the CUSMA negotiations.
naw we’re done with your liquor and your shitty cars too lmao
They don’t need us though
No problem, done. Lifted as soon as you remove tarrifs on softwood, aluminum, steel, stop trying to kill our auto industry and 51st state bs. Which is how we got here
He literally just said we will regret the EV’s but meanwhile please lift the ban?!? Get F’d bud
Thought they don’t need us
Oh no!
Anyways
I thought they didn’t need us though? Also as a Canadian I will likely stay away from American liquor forever now as we make our own liquor beer and wines here
Release the Epstein Files and then we’ll talk.
Do something for us then you fuck
Please Supreme Court……
Put this orange clown in his place and rule on the tariffs
Get bent, hoser.
Why? We don’t need Canada. He said. This week. Make up your mind old man.
Say what you want about China…but in my lifetime, I don’t recall ever feeling threatened by them as much as I feel threatened by our so-called friendly neighbor. Fuck Trump’s USA and everything they stand for.
