  1. I’d like to see the math where it doesn’t in Venezuela. Google indicates it is 1 Bolivar is $0.00293.

Add Zimbabwe to that. 1 ZD is basically equal to the Sanibel Venezuelan rate. Or close enough to it ~$0.0031

I live in Brazil, my grandma visited Argentina one time and she gave me a 20 Pesos note, which is equivalent to about R$0.07 (7 cents, or about 1/4 of a gumball)

I genuinely cannot fathom living in a country where regular transactions are measured in the hundreds or thousands

  3. I grew up in the early 2000s Argentina so I remembered when the exchange rate was just 2 or 3 pesos per dollar. And felt the same as you when seeing Chilean currency in that moment.

Now the exchange is flipped and you need 1500 Argentinian pesos to buy a dollar while less than 1000 Chilean pesos per dollar.

Please people, care about your currency.

1 IDR = 0.000059 USD, forgot Indonesia! someone is farming for karma!

  5. 1 Iranian Rial equals to 0.0000007 USD as a matter of fact. One of the main reasons that people are protesting against the Islamic regime.

  6. This is not accurate, and is meaningless even if it was.

1 Japanese Yen equals $0.0063USD, making it invalid for this map (rounding to $0.01USD) but this low value doesn’t mean that the currency is weak, or that the people there are poor.

Japan has a ‚zero-decimal‘ currency, so one yen would be more comparable to one cent, which is ‚close‘ to par to the USD.

Comparing currency exchange rates to tell which one is better is like thinking Reddit is a bigger and better company compared to Nvidia because it has a stock price of $226 instead of Nvida’s smaller stock of $189 per share.

  7. That’s an interesting way to say “countries where 1 unit of currency costs less than $0,005”
