      **From The Associated Press:** President Donald Trump says he may punish countries with tariffs if they don’t back the U.S. controlling Greenland. Trump didn’t provide details Friday.

      Trump says the United States needs Greenland for national security. Trump for months has insisted that the U.S. should control Greenland, a self-governing territory that is part of the kingdom of Denmark. But the Republican president had not previously mentioned using tariffs to try to force the issue.

      At this point, who’s going to support USA in this? Russia definitely supports it internally, but will cry about it in public to gain points on the world stage. „Hurr Russia supports the law“. China is very happy about it probably because it weakens the USA and Europe, but will absolutely condemn it and say all borders must be respected. After all, they have Taiwan to worry about so they need to maintain the fact that Taiwan is part of China and those borders cannot be changed (by declaring independence or otherwise).

      Europe will not back him, would even Hungary or Slovakia do so? Arab countries? Why would they support it? African countries? Why? Maybe some expansionist countries that also want to grab other lands?

      Yeah OK donald the dumb, just sanction every country then.

      That’s something truly frightening is that they believe that they have limitless power. I’m a military officer, And in conversations I’ve had with several of these type of people they fundamentally do not understand that we are not all-powerful or invincible. And it’s the same for the economy.

      You mean, Trump might punish American consumers with tariffs for other countries not supporting Trump’s illegal attempts annex Greenland.

      not that I expect it, but it’ll be amazing if SCOTUS winds up agreeing with the trade court that the president doesnt have this tariff powers.

      granted, that then leaves him with mostly war powers to use, so that would not be great. we’ll just have to see if he tries to militarily move on greenland. without leaving NATO and abandoning other agreements, it would be an illegal order for the military to attack an ally, and you’d think that would be reason enough for whats left of the senate to wake up. alas I suspect the senate, if it would do anything, wouldnt do anything until the shitshow was already under way.

      The EU could absolutely make the US occupation of Greenland a living h3ll. They would sink all America’s naval power with subs and drones and stand-off weapons and make all runways inoperable when the weather does not. Meanwhile they would insert special forces and pick off the poor farmers Trump would send on a su1cide mission. Think Falklands but bigger. US would pay a high price for ice and penguins and hand China the next century. I doubt it comes to war but Europe can also join BRICS and crush American idolatry.

      Like a simple child that just learned a new word and keeps repeating it in different ways. Is the RoW not just over this guy yet? Surely they’ve realized the one or two moves he knows in this game and are wise with ways to avoid dealing with him.
