      List of the number of troops deployed/to be deployed by European countries to defend Greenland:

      France – 15

      Germany – 13

      Norway – 2

      Sweden – 3

      United Kingdom – 1

      Finland – 2

      Netherlands – 1

      Denmark does not OWN Greenland. Greenland is a part of Denmark.
      Owning means that is can be sold – just like Trump thinks.

      Sent for what? AFAIK there is a special mission which doesn’t require neither many people nor participating of all the NATO members.

      In fairness: Eastern Europe is already keeping an eye on another threat – and Italy, Spain and Portugal have basically no major overseas deployable forces to speak of who have any realistic cold weather training.

      Don’t think that Denmark owns Greenland is the correct term. Greenland is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark (Kongeriget Danmark), which consists of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

      Saying that Denmark owns Greenland kind of unconsciously plays in to trumpian logic of how the World works.

      What no one realizes is this is what Trump wants. For someone in Europe to have boots on the ground in Greenland.

      40 Europeans defend the frozen tundra, Greenlanders want independence from Denmark, but Europe doesn’t care about that part.

      Denmark doesn’t own Greenland. Both (+ Faroes) countries ARE the Kingdom of Denmark

      I hate the wording.

      „Owns“ Greenland. No, it’s part of Denmark.
      If States own land, it’s the justification to take it.

      If it’s part, the people there freely and voluntarily associate themselves with the state. Totally different.
