    > White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called an Irish journalist a „left-wing hack“ during a heated exchange at a press briefing yesterday.

    > Niall Stanage, who works for The Hill newspaper, asked a question about the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on 7 January.

    > When asked for his assessment of the incident, Mr Stanage described the ICE officers‘ actions as „reckless,“ prompting a sharp response from the press secretary.

    > When Mr Stanage mentioned that 32 people had died in ICE custody in 2025, Ms Leavitt responded by questioning his credentials as a journalist.

    > „You’re not a reporter, you’re posing in this room as a journalist,“ she said. „You’re pretending like you’re a journalist but you’re a left-wing activist.“

    > „Yeah, because you’re a left-wing hack, you’re not a reporter, you’re posing in this room as a journalist and it’s so clear by the premise of your question.

    > „And you and the people in the media who have such biases but fake like you’re a journalist, you shouldn’t even be sitting in that seat. But you’re pretending like you’re a journalist but you’re a left-wing activist,“ she said.

Party of snowflakes, those Republicans. Incredible how one simple question gets under their skin so severely.

The more they do stuff like this the more petulant and dictatorial they look. They’re not even wearing a mask anymore – it doesn’t need to slip.

  6. This is far from the most shocking thing happening over there right now. The US is openly fascist and a lot of people here haven’t seemed to register that yet. If you want to see how bad it’s getting go take a look at /r/Minnesota or /r/ice_watch and see for yourself.

Niall Stanage is an excellent and fair reporter. Used to love him each week on The Stand.

It doesn’t really matter what she said, everyone knows she’s a propaganda mouthpiece. What matters is that the entire press corps didn’t immediately derail the briefing by asking nothing but how fucking dare she continue speaking that way.

The story isn’t that the regime does regime shit, it’s that the press are collaborators.

  9. I don’t enjoy living in interesting times at all. They are openly floating strategies to suspend elections.

Had seen this headline but not watched the video so hadnt realised it was Niall Stanage. He writes for the Hill and is a fine journalist

  12. Rather than speak to his line of questioning, she attacks his alleged political allegiance. Joseph Goebels couldn’t teach her anything if he was still around.

Fair enough question. Maybe the tone was judgemental. In that the jury is literally out on the events. But the response was more than just tone been a curse response.

  14. American politics is fucking everywhere, do we really need it in r/ireland too?

Thats all they can do is lash out arbitrarily.

Trumps admin better disappear when he croaks cos they’re gna get Kirked

  16. Stanage is probably the best journalist to come out of Ireland for decades. Too refer to him as a „hack“ of any political hue is remarkable.
