As a British Columbian this is shattering my disbelief. I’m so accustomed to the Feds being nigh useless for softwood lumber that seeing them take a lead on the issue is somewhat surprising.

China is hungry for softwood products; not just for home construction, but for manufacturing of goods to sell abroad. Whereas the USA has been a *terrible* trading partner with respect to softwood lumber, with decades of bitter disputes and crippling uncertainty.
