      Translation: Starmer has been by the US that UK politicans will face sanctions and travel ban if they dare to act on X.

      So he’s explicitly saying they *were not* complying with the law before? Previously he’d said it was all OFCOM, interesting that he’s said they weren’t, when are the prosecutions?

      This is a very poorly written headline and in fact has already been changed slightly on the BBC.

      So he’s saying he’s been told they are working towards compliance. So no u-turn on his part, no sudden change on their part either, but a “wait and see”.

      I’m sure this won’t stop people teeing off in an entirely partisan way here but I thought people might at least want to know what’s in the article.

      He threatened that if X didnt comply with the law they’d be banned, and X backed down, thus they’re not breaking the law, so no reason to ban them now

      Why have all the news articles about this stopped mentioning that it’s being used to generate CSAM? it makes me suspicious that influence is being exerted to spin the story in the least damaging way possible.

      As of 1 hour ago it seems it’s still creating any lewd photo requested. So not sure how it’s compliant. (No I didn’t do it just saw a request that was fulfilled an hour ago)

      Even if they are complying, working to ward compliance etc. the investigation by Ofcom and relevant fines must still happen.

      The irresponsibility with which this has been approached by X must be looked into and relevant punishments dished out to demonstrate that tech firms should be taking the law seriously.

      Oh yes, because if i was under investigation, all I have to do is tell the police I now comply with the law to have all charges dropped.
