      > “As tough as things are right now with the Trump administration, **our number one economic market and security partner remains the United States.** We shouldn’t be so keen on China that our relationship with the U.S. becomes even worse than it is now. **A successful CUSMA review** is far more important than any deal we could do with China,” said Clow.

When are these analysts/advisors going to get real? You can’t really have a “security partner” that is going around bombing other countries and spreading massive insecurity around the region, and it’s not Canada’s fault CUSMA is going down the drain. The least we can do is reduce the damage by opening up trade markets that have been previously closed to us because of US dependence.

There are only two choices now: become the fascist empire’s lackey and bring long term suffering to Canadians, or strike an independent path even if it means short term pain as we uncouple from the US.

      > U.S. goods exports to China in 2024 were $143.2 billion, down 3.0 percent ($4.4 billion) from 2023. U.S. goods imports from China in 2024 totaled $438.7 billion, up 2.7 percent ($11.5 billion) from 2023.

US does massive trade with China. They are just trying to keep us under their thumb.

It is hypocritical for the US to try and control our goods for their benefit, when they trade with yhe same people.

Do what is best for Canada, maybe when the US cleans up their Nazi problem, we can start talking like adults again.

That is, if they do and don’t just export it here to take over us next.

Those fight clubs pushing white power make me nervous.

Why do we need permission to boost trade with China? If we need permission to make trade deals with China, then we are literally walking on a tightrope to please the US and at the same time boost trade with China.. This position is way harder to manage.

Can’t control what trump will do any given day. A single tweet can change entire policy, Best to trade with reliable trade partners.

It’s a waste of time trying to appease Trump. He’s a megalomaniac. He doesn’t want Greenland for security or Canada for cheap resources. He doesn’t want us to kowtow to a shittier trade deal. He wants us because he wants to go down in history as the president who made the US into the largest and most powerful nation on earth.

The sooner we realize this, the better our chances at survival. Believe what this man says. We need to buck up because we’re going to be in for a rough ride.

    6. Who gives a shit about Trump?

He can be enraged by a factual, innocuous TV ad – or you can invade an ally and he’ll love you. Then he’ll change his mind next week. It’s not worth it to try and chase after his approval.

Do what needs to be done for Canada’s economy.

We are a sovereign nation and do not need US permission to engage in trade. Stop acting like we’re already the 51st state

    8. Trump today said Americans ‚don’t need‘ Canadian products. So why should we be concerned whether anything upsets Trump. Especially since we can get many USA products elsewhere
