Idk… should we not stop having news like „woman xxx“?
It’s just a new leader who happens to be a woman. Fine. Nothing exceptional to call back home for. Business continues as normal.
When I was a kid in the 80s and 90s I honestly thought the red arrows would be a common sight throughout my life.
They were on TV all the time it seemed like. Like they just flew about the place all day every day.
But.. I’ve seen them twice in 46 years and one of those times was just because I was near Scampton..
Well done to her I say. Hope she introduces a „Fly about the place for no reason“ type policy.
The fact that she’s the first is news and I’m sure she’s earned her place.
Gender equality should mean we don’t celebrate when a woman is chosen over a man
Might go some way of changing the culture of the organisation, frankly.
A female commodore in charge of the submarine service would be good too – its tough for the women down there.
I live in a smallish town in the UK…a few years ago we had a flyby over our house as Red 1 at the time parents lived a few doors away.. was cool
Excellent news.
Hopefully the appointment isn’t the result of positive discrimination.
Congratulations to her!!
But the red arrows need some new jets, they are just about to run out of flight hours and there are no plans to replace them yet.
I hope she wasnt selected ahead of more capable men. The RAF is known to be discriminatory towards men.
