I don’t support this action, but everything I’ve heard of this seems so vague. The only aircraft that comes to mind is perhaps a P-8 Poseidon??

For those that didnt read the article, which appears to be everyone so far, they disguised it as a battleship.

War crime allegation? lol. Is that the best they can come up with? This is not headline worthy.

  4. Im still waiting to see a single picture of this alleged plane, because the only ones ive found online so far still say us navy in big letters on the side

Well respected OSINT people were very sceptical of this this morning. I can’t say if it’s true or not, just it seems to be pretty fishy.

It’s not like they have been trying to hide what they have been doing up till now. Nor do they really need to go to these lengths. You can drop munitions from so high and far away that no one is going to spot something like the F-18 doing it.

I can’t say it did not happen, but Id be waiting for solid evidence before starting to take it seriously.

  6. Using a disguised plane to bait survivors into waving before a second strike isn’t a ‚tactic’—it’s the literal definition of **perfidy**. If the U.S. throws out the Geneva Conventions to sink drug boats, we lose every right to complain when other countries target our actual civilian planes.

Oh it’s war crime now is it. It’s fair game when causes however much amount of deaths in the US. What’s the number 200,000 to 300,000?

ok but there needs to be charges and sanctions. The American people need to suffer in their wallets. Lack of goods or lack of markets etc. Otherwise it’s open season on the people of this world by tyrannical killers.

Even Al Jazeera plays into their nonsense with „drug boat attack“ in the headline.

„US halfarses plane disguise while murdering random people“ is a less catchy headline, admittedly. Also:

    >Still, its transponder was transmitting a military tail number.

Does not sound like the intent was to actually hide the plane’s purpose then.

  11. I’m not saying I support what they did in these attacks, but don’t these kind of war crimes only apply to lawful combatants in actual wars between opposing sovereign states?

This isn’t really a war as such and those killed aren’t considered lawful combatants

Crap article. Suggesting that internal stowage of weapons isn’t allowed, something that all large bombers have since the second world war!!

The US definitely has intelligence and SpecOps aircraft painted in innocuous colour schemes to help them blend in when operating from civilian airports or within visual range of observers, other countries do the same, such as the UK with their Shadow aircraft.

  13. Where are these people when China hides missile launchers in containers?

Ukraine also hides drones in containers, are they committing war crimes?

News flash. Even with overwhelming evidence there will be no consequences and no repercussions for anyone under this regime. Don’t be naive.

  15. But who would actually prosecute them? This is why they didn’t join the ICC.

  16. TerminalCancerMan on

War crime according to whom? The US is not a signatory to the Geneva Convention lol.

US doesn’t face anything. No one’s going to jail and no ones being held accountable. US is a lawless country where pedophiles like Trump get to be president.

  18. Sometimes I think that everyone in the Trump administration just constantly finds themselves saying „I can’t believe no one has ever thought of this!“ and then they spend an hour patting each other on the back for being geniuses. Then a month later the world tells them people have in fact thought of it and determined it was either a bad idea or super illegal and you get Trump on TV saying „no one knew how complicated this stuff was.“

The number of comments from people who clearly didn’t read the article is astounding.

  20. Pretending to be a civilian airliner could easily be a war crime, absolutely. For aircraft, what matters most are transponder codes, which the article admits were military. You don’t eyeball aircraft and shoot them down based on the paint job (unless you’re Russian). As long as you don’t paint a red cross on the side of your plane, you should be fine.

    Stealth isn’t a war crime.
