I have felt quite let down by Labour in a few areas, but I also think they are mostly playing by the hand they’re being dealt. However, they have been head and shoulders above the Tories and I would vote for them over anyone else.
I know the Greens have grown in popularity but I see them as a reverse reform. Their ideas don’t stand up to scrutiny, and I say that as a former member of the party. The powers that be (aka the markets) would not allow them to succeed and I don’t think they’re a coherent party.
Alternatively I would vote Lib Dem, as I actually think they’re to the left of Labour now, at least socially.
No surprises here really. Older generations looking to fuck over the younger. Younger generations looking to preserve their future.
Given that older people turn out to vote more than younger people, this does bode too well for comfort for a Tory revival and Reform surge.
If that is anything like accurate then this country deserves everything it gets, and im outta here
So much talk about protecting children from the dangers of social media/misinformation and yet it is **consistently** those 50+ that passionately and immovably vote for the nation to kick itself in the bollocks.
The world is going to shit not because kids are being groomed, but because older adults already have been.
I don’t know anyone in the 50-64 group who supports Reform in any way yet they have the biggest support percentage in that group.
I guess GenX _are_ the first generation to be screwed over by the Boomers, so perhaps they’re just looking for somewhere to put their anger.
Wish they’d vote Green instead though, they’ll do far less damage to the country than Reform will.
But the papers keep telling me that young people love Reform
Further proof that age definitely doesn’t bring wisdom
Britons are absolutely addicted to pain. It must be a fetish
We did a nationwide lockdown to protect old people from covid. We took massive tax increases to pay for their triple lock pensions.
And they’re repaying the nation by voting for Putin?
Hmm.
Confirmed proof of no correlation between age and wisdom.
Another tragedy of Brexit proportions.
I want my triple lock and £100 winter fuel payment. I don’t care that you won’t be able to afford a house. I own 5 and you can rent one!
No one talks about the dangers of print media. Will someone please think of the boomers?
Oh look. The age group Starmer keeps bending over backwards for don’t give a shit about him.
So a tory and reform coalition. 40 to 70 out vote everyone so if you happen to be in the younger cohort get the vote out.
Interesting how people always become more right leaning as they become older, more educated and experienced with life and are no longer naive. Anyone know why this pattern happens in so many countries?
Boomers are probably the most selfish generation ever
Scandals, one after another, siding with anyone with a chequebook and STILL people would vote for Reform..
Dropping the voting age in England doesn’t seem to be quite the vote winner Labour were expecting.
Should we start polling 16-17 year olds now, since they will be able to vote come the next election? I mean, the difference might only be slight, but they should be included if the voting age is lowered to include them
My area has been labour forever. I’ve not been keen on them for the past several years but I have to vote for them or we’ll fall to Reform.
I work with people with moderate to server special needs & learning disabilities and I doubt reform give a toss about them. They want some kind of civil war I feel like and what they (and the other side) don’t realise is that when violent over throwing of governments or unrest happen, people who are vulnerable and need systematic support get forgotten about.
ITT: „The commies are as bad as the fascists“. As is tradition.
We need to ban over 60s from social media. The societal harm is too great to ignore.
Curious to see the correlation with their most watched/favourite news sources.
No political commentary, genuine curiosity.
To anyone who wants to vote Reform because of immigration concerns, instead of judging about it, I would like to simply ask you to look up their other pledges and promises outside of immigration. They have mentioned making the NHS follow France’s system, so basically private, you pay for it. They are also now very much considered to be anti-abortion. Their manifesto seems to talk about huge cuts to anything in the welfare areas, i.e disability, unemployment, and there is the potential of outside interference when it comes to Farage (though I will say, we can’t say it isn’t happening with the others).
I respect people can vote for who they want to, I just want them to go all in rather than just see one thing and ignore the rest.
As a group Boomers really don’t fucking care do they?
I just don’t understand how Labour can gain any traction with such a hostile media. Starmer’s doing a half decent job after 14 years of Tory sabotage, but every win is silenced and every misstep megaphone’d by our rabid right-wing media.
Sure, I think they’re making a massive mistake with OSA and all the snooping laws, but enough to push everyone to vote reform/greens? Christ.
Nothing quite like retirees voting to deport the people who are working and paying the taxes for their benefits and pensions. Also voting for parties that screw over their grandkids benefits and from retiring comfortably also
Has anyone got data regarding the gender split in voting intention? I would assume the left parties include mainly women and the right mainly men.
Holy Zack Balls. If I lived in England I’d be suggesting everyone voted Green. If in Wales Greens or depending on your thoughts Plaid.
Reform is packed with Tories, the worst ones too. Expect Tory Max not Tory lite. More corruption, scandals, cash for mates and the working class screwed over.
Boomers just love fucking us all over on their way out
As an elder millenial, I’m getting so sick and tired of poorly-educated old people voting for this country to go down the toilet.
What surprises me even more is that this same demographic seemingly learned nothing from Brexit, and is instead voting for more self-harm.
No wonder reform want a snap election. Their supporters are all on the verge of senility.
Not saying governments and the people can’t change, but only 25-49 year old voting for Lib Dem’s just absolutely blows my mind after their betrayal to students.
Young and old vote differently! More at 10. What I found interesting is that 25-49 is so equally split.
One of the most interesting parts of this to me is that the ‘third party’ proportion (i.e green and reform taken together) stays roughly constant across all age groups.
Suggests more of a generational rift but that everyone is agreed that things need to change
It’s terrifying that the younger generations are so brain dead to even consider greens. The country is absolutely fried if they get voted in
Someone always comes on and says we shouldn’t blame the older generation and the boomers as not all of them vote for right wing arsehole parties that ruin the country…
Interesting that the variation is mostly with the Greens and Reform. The 3 traditional parties are all largely the same across the age groups.
So all the old people are gonna fuck the youngsters (aka the people who will have to live longest with, and probably experience the worst of, the consequences of a shitty government) again, yay.
What the hell are the kids doing voting green? The greens are absolutely mental.
Imagine seeing everything you’ve seen for 50+ years and still voting like that
Everyone freaking out about how popular reform are, and I’m just say here like how do the Tories have such a strong showing?
They ran the country for 15 years and consistently and repeatedly fucked it up, fell to infighting, and things worse.
If labour are serious about stopping a reform majority, they would get rid of first past the post.
And that will work out as what? 1 seat for Greens and 315 for Conservatives?
This is real the experience I’ve had with the current parties:
Conservatives – I’ve got Cystic Fibrosis, diabetes and high blood pressure. The Conservative government took away my PIP and at the same time gave it to my friend with Anxiety.
Labour – The Labour government increased my taxes so that people with more kids get more benefits, failed to control illegal immigration (I’m all for legal migration by the way) nor have they supported working people in any tangible way since coming in to power
I’m going to vote for reform. I don’t think in my voting life any party has done anything to help me in any meaningful way, so why should I support them?
What Starmer should have done from the start is completely, unapologetically, push policies that favour young people. If he’d done so he woukd dominate the votes of gen Z and millenials, and most would have stuck with Labour for decades as a result. His vote share among the elderly wouldn’t have dipped too much and he’d be in a stronger position – setting Labour up with a strong support base for the future.
Almost a 1:1 mirror flip between greens and reform by age group. Go figure.
