Ew get away from me, dirty germman. You’re making me ill!

Edit: don’t worry, it’s a joke about the type in the title! I like Germans

And, moreover, Spain and Sweden were ruled by dynasties of French origin (Bourbon and the Bernadotte).

  3. I remember the monarchs of Russia, UK and Germany were cousins at that time, and one of them said, referring to the war, something like << If grandma was here (Queen Victoria) this wouldn’t have happened>>

  4. Technically, France had a dynasty of German origin: the ancestors of the French kings were in the Frankish nobility. It was like in the 6th century, very remote, but still Germanic.

The UK’s is famously from Normandy. I think the issue here is the word „Originally“ has been misunderstood. Having a grandparent who moved to Germany does not reset the history of the family.

  6. History fact: A reason of the Franco-Prussian was the candidacy of **Leopold of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen** (a German monarch) to the throne of **Spain** after the fall of Isabella II in 1868.

(Eventually the throne did not pass to him, but anyway)

  7. I freaking hate World in Maps. 80% of their maps are made with Mapchart and zero effort at all.

Not sure you can call the Romanov dynasty of Germanic origin, just because occasional German people married in.

The Savoyards (Italy) are traditionally thought to be of Saxon descent, whereas the Bourbons (Spain) are Frankish via the Robertians. Probably the only major, non-Germanic dynasty are the Bonapartes in Europe.

  10. The Swedish royalty would be French here by the house of Bernadotte. Although we had german houses ruling before.

  11. Weren’t Spanish rulers partly of Habsburg descent? Afaik that was the reason why Mexico was „Austrian“ for some time
