Anyone else old enough to remember a Wayne and Shuster sketch about a guy holding up a supermarket for their meat? And forcing the manage to open the vault where the Filet Mignon was kept? It’s the 70s all over again.

what about the issue in larger population centers such as Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal?

Is it a issue spread from larger population center to more remote ones? if so, it indicates some really bad thing there

Not really the point in the article, but before supermarkets where you browse aisles, goods were all kept in aisles behind the counter, and the shopkeepers at the counter prepared your order.

With the advent of the internet, this is even more feasable, and has partially become a thing, but stores could return to pay-up-front shopping. It does reduce impulse buys by a TON, which stores hate.

5-7 years from now most grocery stores will be subscription based just like Costco. Guaranteed.

I always comment that im surprised any store lets people grab meat without prepaying anymore. its price is insane. Im sure in our lifetimes there will be almost zero access to grocery stores. I will be click and collect at the door.
