Seems like anything goes when done by super powers. We can say they shouldn’t but can’t stop them.
The Japanese position is very clear. Japan must intervene in China because invading countries is bad, even though Taiwan is not recognised as an independent country, and Japan will not condemn the attack on Venezuela even though it is by definition invading another country, because Japan is a vassal of the US and does not actually care about national sovereignty or anything like that.
Japan’s position is like Europe’s: Great that the US brings freedom in exchange for a little bit of oil!
International law? Well, we are not sure… We are looking into it…
