I don’t know but read the rise and fall of the third reich hitler was truly defeated in every way in fact beyond defeated and was so delusional that he could still win the war I tend to believe he killed himself
Absolutely. Even most of the modern investigators ignore the glaring fact that in 1945 in Western journalism at first it was taken that Hitler was neither dead nor caught. Months of this.
A little while later the story was that it really wasn’t known if he lived – conflicting reports, unverified. This brought things to at least a year after Hitler’s death – clear move from ’no sign of Hitler‘ to ‚unknown but easily he is dead‘).
From the first era I mentioned (‚where is he?‘) which lasted months, though, already it seemed pretty clear Hitler was nowhere around. Clear Western reports from the time, at least 3, said
definitely Hitler was not found and only a „poor body double“ was discovered around the bunker).
Why would reporting move from ‚he’s not there‘ to ‚may well be dead – unknown‘. It looks like a decision has been made and gradually a final position is being fed in for people to believe.
Why would anyone genuinely assume the utterly determined leader of **all that** would not have numerous, advanced plans in place? **The siege of Berlin was nothing of a surprise to Nazi military intelligence**, remembering it was from multiple country’s armies and all sides. Even if had just been the Russians, or just the British, would it make sense Hitler would hang around from central Berlin, maybe wait to see if he’d be having tea and strudel with some foreigners?
Then the final era – ‚Hitler was found around the bunker‘.
What, over a year later? How does he become found in a backdated way? Obviously this just cannot happen. It seems people involved at the time likely were talked to – either they were shut up or told what to say.
It seems clear that the allies thought that even the idea of Hitler being alive was too dangerous to have people aware of.
At the same time, during the 50s and even 60s the FBI not only had departments following sightings and evidence of Hitler alive but openly requested people in the USA to forward any information.
*It doesn’t happen if there is even a chance that Hitler died when Berlin was invaded, does it? Why would the Federal Bureau of Investigation openly ask for info on Hitler sightings if they had faith it the reports he definitely died in Berlin?*
I don’t personally have a “belief” about this. However, I’ve always found the debate about the possibilities rather fascinating. Also, some of the pretty undeniable evidence that at least some Nazis managed to escape to South America makes it at least something that was possible, even if it wasn’t probable.
I’ve researched this subject extensively. There was more evidence to support an escape theory, rather than „here is Hitlers remains“. It appeared more likely than not, that he escaped.
