    1. >The U-turn comes after the Minister faced heavy criticism yesterday for saying that he did not believe X was responsible for the child sexual abuse materials that have been generated using the platform’s technology over the last week.

      >The Minister made the announcement on Limerick 95 this morning.

      >“I’ve deactivated it. And look, as Minister for Communications and Minister for Media I just felt that if you’re on a platform where this is allowed, regardless of whether you’re paying for it or not, I just don’t feel comfortable with it.

He’s had some sense at last.

Though I wonder if he means anything by saying ‚deactivated‘ rather than ‚deleted‘.

    2. Good to know that in some areas people can indeed be shamed and harangued into doing the absolute bare minimum.

That’s it. That’s the height of what the Government are going to do about this.

I’ve absolutely no idea why politicians get involved with Twitter. It’s a hate filled place full of bots, lunatics and extremists. It has minimal reach to normal people.

Belated sense is sense at least, but it’s gonna take some heavy shaming to get politicians to wake up to the severity of just how polutted social media is becoming.

It’s weird that you still have to go to X for updates from various transport companies

Can you control a multinational the size of x. Even if there have responsibilities. They will leave easily if pushed been a digital company. They have a business model like it or not etc. Its the most downloaded AI interface in ireland

    8. Following the same logic of – it is not Twitter, it is user fault – all website should stop policing.
Guns, drugs, illegal service on donedeal, adverts.ie – why not? It is user who posted it!
None of the torrent site should ever get blocked or restricted – they don’t host pirated contented and everything is added by users!

That didn’t take long. All officials need to follow suit, don’t use that platform.

It’s genuinely impressive how you think FG has put the most useless person ever into a position of power, only to later prove us all wrong by unveiling someone even more incompetent.

I genuinely fear for the next ministerial appointment.
