I’m not a fan of Mark Carney.
In fact, I think the budget sucks, his tariff policy sucks, his environmental policy sucks and his housing policy sucks. And let’s not also forget how he simply bends over during negotiations with this US.
Having said that, if this trend of dealing with other countries continues, it would be the one sliver of hope that I have for this government. Whether it’s making reasonable trade deals with China and Europe or forming a new international military alliance after NATO dissolves, those are legitimately positive steps toward national security.
The government and the people are at least somewhat aligned in the notion moving away from US involvement and that should be the central theme for the next 4 years.
It is finally a good news. Reducing our dépendance to the US will take time and a lot of efforts but i am glad to see some early promising signs.
Most people missed the calculation that the world’s second biggest trade partner tariffing everyone would also shift trade to other alternative (Us).
>At the same time, exports to non-U.S. countries rose by 15.6% after an 11.8% increase in September, and have now hit a new record high.
The benefits of the trading partner diversification are taking effect much quicker than I had anticipated, this is great news.
